    Balance (22)
    Good Whisky (89)
    • Nose
Fresh aroma, flowers, apples, honey, citruses and chocolate ... tropical chewing gum, then grass and moist soil. Standing chocolate comes to the fore and appears, in hint, an animal (22)
    • Taste
Juicy, fruity, spices and chocolate (22.5)
    • Finish
Juicy, fruity ... menthol, melon, canned peaches, chocolate, grass, wood (22.5)

good sherry whisky, such barrels are now rare ...

A good mole, more precisely a good sherry standard, Glen Grant here if there is, it is very deep and implicit, in the fragrance it is still possible to distinguish it, in taste / finish it is practically invisible; it's good or bad - decide for yourself, in general, the product is very high quality.
    • Nose
The open, wet, apple tones of the base, surrounded by sherry ingredients - dried fruits-dried apricots, raisins, pears; earthy notes, dried mushrooms, furniture varnish, wet-rotting motifs - overripe fruit, damp foliage; kvasnoe wort, burnt biscuits.
    • Taste
Saturated, woody sherry, sweet - dried fruits, burnt biscuits, kvasnoe wort, bitterness of dark beer, sweet and sour hot sauce, barely perceptible shades of the basis - apples, floral-herbal notes, bitter chocolate.
    • Finish
Spicy, warming, burnt crackers, dried mushrooms, dark beer, sweet and sour prunes, pu-er tea, cocoa.

This nose is really exciting: after a start of vanilla / alcohol not tip top, we have fruit galore: wild fruits jam and jelly, plums, all with a hint of acidity while remaining quite sweet. Toffee late, more and more melted, some cereal notes. On the palate, malt and toffee, it is also sweet, but the alcohol is a little annoying. Sweet spices at the end of the mouth that extend into the finish, which lacks overall balance. With a little water, we find the intensity of the fruits that had subsided to the nose, they are also more demonstrative in the mouth. In the finale, the spices are more spicy. Always this imbalance that prevents a little to enjoy the moment to 100%. This whisky has many qualities, but also unfortunately some shadows on the board.

    Enthusiasm 3/5

Alcohol well present at the opening then rose and dried fruits. Sweet mouth, caramel, astringent, alcohol too present. Powerful final, overall too much perceived alcohol. Disappointing.

    • Nose
On the nose, this Glen Grant immediately reveals sherry; plum and prune. The barrel has made its effect. But it's still delicate. Caramel makes the whole creamy and unctuous.
    • Taste
In the mouth, clearly, we find the creamy nose that promised. Delicacy and power. Alcohol is present. Lemon too, even pineapple. A little bitterness adds to a hint of astringency.
    • Finish
A long enough finale. A bit bitter.

  8. Bishlouk scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A good fruity profile, very balanced.
    • Nose
Very fruity (yellow apple and pear). Morning freshness and a little malt.
    • Taste
In the right line of the nose: pear, apple, white grapes, some sweet spices
    • Finish
Long finish on a slight citric acidity and a little woody drought. A pinch of white pepper.

  9. Ivynor scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Not bad, but I think I was expecting more sherry and more finesse. (note, I tasted a sample that resulted from a bottle bottom, which may perhaps explain a loss of aromas)
    • Nose
Wood, vanilla, a little sherry (baked cake, green nuts), and fresh fruit (apple, peach).
    • Taste
The texture is quite sweet, a little creamy, with some vanilla and some fruit. the bitterness of the wood is quite pronounced
    • Finish
Always a little nut, wood, vanilla
