Whisky Reviews for Glenrothes 1991 AD

  1. GlenSikkes did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

    Tasting Notes by Adelphi;

    1 of only 176 bottles from cask no. 5111An unusual refill American oak ex-sherry hogshead has produced a burnished copper colour and an excellent bead.A fair amount of nose prickle to start with notes of cut grass that rapidly fade to mature cigars.  As it opens, we find a trace of mint humbugs and honeysuckle.A sweet start then slightly tannic (mouth drying), leaving a tingling sensation.At reduced strength the cigars have become cigar boxes, possibly even sandalwood with over-ripe tropical fruit and more sweet tobacco.It is also much sweeter with rich honey notes in the development.

  2. Finlaggan scored this whisky 50 points Expert Senior

    This whisky tastes like cheese!! I`m not a cheese eater so my rate is low because of that.
    I actually found it undrinkable...

  3. SilentStill scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

    A top nose, followed by an at least very pleasant palate, ensure that this Glenrothes joins my personal TOP 3 of this distillery.
    • Nose
      Nice, intense nose with a good dose of rumrosine, gentle furniture polish and resin. The well-integrated alcohol allows unrestricted access to the flavors. The sherry pre-aging comes out after a while getting better and the barrel has also done a great job. A great harmonious overall picture.
    • Taste
      On the palate, the barrel comes through stronger and somewhat supplants the dark grape flavors. Less sweet than in the nose, but more powerful and spicy.
    • Finish
      Herb-bitter, rather long finish, in which the spice of the palate sticks for a long time.
