All in all, no complacent whisky, quite special and in my opinion a little too alcoholic and eichelig
    • Nose
      84 84
      Citrus with vanilla and wood
    • Taste
      82 82
Very oaky with an alcoholic spiciness and a hint of vanilla
    • Finish
      83 83
Long, a bit spicy with a hint of citrus and ginger

    • Nose
Starts remarkably salty and fresh. Gradually, coconut, apple, citrus zests, a waxy sweetness, oatmeal, some oak and mineral accents (lime) follow. Over time, some metallic, wet stones and floral hints of rainy hay. Later also a hint of peat.
    • Taste
Strong energetic approach that gradually turns into a waxy-fruity sweetness. Acid apples, citrus zests, earthy aromas, again a hint of peat, oak, cinnamon and a metallic dryness. Also some smoke.
    • Finish
Full, waxy sweetness, floral notes, pithy spices and a hint of smoke. It becomes very earthy over time.

The aroma is dense, a bit spirituous: diesel oil, varnish, minerality (iodine, salt, stones), sea (algae), apple peel, wet grain, malt, bread. The taste is sharp, pungent: pepper, butter, bread notes, malt, a little peat and iodine, oak, sweetness with bitter taste in the finale. With a drop of water is more sweet. The aftertaste is soft, smooth: slightly astringent oak, a hint of peat. Conclusion . Cool Springbank. Strong, even, solid. You can say "classic." Rating: 89 (n22t22f22b23).

I´m still searching the famous Springbank dirt but cannot find it here, in fact I found more of it in a Hazelburn 12yo. Despite of this a very fine-fruity nose reminding me a Balblair. I can confirm strong bitter notes in taste, Campari-like. Doesn´t take water very well despite its high abv. A quite atypical Springbank for sure.

The spices remain quite long in the mouth, but on the whole this is not my taste and the aroma does not cut me off the stool. But the alcohol is very well involved.
    • Nose
Peach and applesauce with vanilla and oatmeal.
    • Taste
A very strong oak flavor. Ginger and nutmeg with soft smoke and citrus. Slight bitterness of the oak.
    • Finish
      Long with ginger and nutmeg.
