    Conclusion and pictures on: https://tomtrinkt.de
    • Nose
Very mild onset and surprisingly lightly alcoholic, although the malt has an "only" 40% alcohol content. Even after 15 minutes, the minimal stinging in the nose has not completely disappeared. Very gentle citrus notes, vanilla, green apples, ripe pears and subtle hints of orange crystallize with plenty of effort gradually out. In the background, a musty cellar note is at work. A touch of oak and nuts can not save the one-dimensional, very flavourful nose (in terms of complexity & intensity) and slightly boring nose.
    • Taste
The feeble onset is hardly able to transport the mild aromas. The sweet, bright fruits are tasteless almost imperceptible. Nuts, malt and spicy oak notes dominate with a pronounced bitterness. Sweet is the Macallan, but nothing more.
    • Finish
Short, mild and powerless. The bright fruits flash in the short term with a subtle residual sweetness, before the oak and subtle spices with plenty of bitterness to pick up speed.

[June, 2015]  I donated this bottle to a party.  I bought it for 60 Euro in March, 2015.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored this 80.  My notes state an immature, unbalanced and slightly bitter (tannins) profile that has absolutely nothing in common with the old Macallan style we all adore.  Since Macallan pushes for maximum production output the quality of this whisky went down south at a frightening speed.  But obviously they manage to attract more newbies to their brand as they loose old customers...This definitely is the last bottle of modern Macallan I bought!

[April, 2016]  I had this dram during a FoSM club tasting. In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 75.  I
took no detailed notes as this whisky did not interest me at all.  This is not "The Macallan" anymore, this is just another boring mass product...

Nothing special imho. Then I'd rather invest a bit more and buy the Sienna, which I really like. This one is a bit lax and quite boring.

He disappoints me a lot. That should be a Macallan? Flat and one-dimensional, much too young for my taste and unfortunately completely superfluous. There is much better for significantly less money. But you can drink that away easily - a quality feature is something but unfortunately not.
    • Nose
      65 65
Something alcoholic. Very mild - so mild that hardly any aromas can be smelled. If it smells long enough, maybe some lemon and orange. But otherwise? Rather disappointing.
    • Taste
      70 70
Young and alcoholic, late some yellow fruit and goodwill with some cinnamon. Then something woody. Another orange. There is not much, I am quite disappointed.
    • Finish
      60 60
Very short, there is really only the alcoholic.

No comparison to the Macallans with age. In the end, a very delicious and good to drink malt, if you do not want the total sherry bomb now.
    • Nose
Fresh and properly dessert-sweet. Citrus notes, probably a not so green apple. A hint of alcoholic touch.
    • Taste
The sweetness stays, the citrus note is not that strong anymore. Very warm and a lot of volume.
    • Finish
Again very warm and full, the oak occupies the mouth. Drying towards the end, comparatively long finish, which in the end gets a little bit bitter and gets a light tobacco taste.

    • Nose
For 40% surprisingly strong and spicy in the nose. Cinnamon. Oak. The dark-sweet sherry notes are initially in the background. For fresh citrus and a little vanilla. After the first sip, the impression in the nose is much sweeter and milder.
    • Taste
Also in the mouth surprisingly strong and spicy on the go. Tasty but mild and sweet. Get dry quickly. A touch of ginger. Something is occupying the tongue. Oak on the palate.
    • Finish
      Rather short and mild. Karamelltoffee.
