Also due to higher abv. a significant step up from the standard Livet range. However a limited collectors' item and given the choice the recent 12 Original Series Ilicit Stills @48% abv. is about on pair with this one. So get the latter for taste, the Alpha for your collection if you must.

    63. Glenlivet Alpha OA WID: 41197
    Abv. 50%
Nose: modern ex-Bourbon Cask nose, a lot of vanilla and honey, a little malt, a round matter, but not very complex, the alcohol is well integrated
Taste: really sweet and a continuation of the nose
Departure: unfortunately quite short and a little malty
Conclusion: Blindly I would tap on a mix of 12-15 year olds Malts on very active BC. The malt can not really convince, at least not more than the Balvanie 12 Single Barrel (WID: 125104), which I think is similar to confused. For me, unfortunately, a very unimportant Malt.

THE GLENLIVET ALPHA / 50% OB Apple, flower, mint, vanilla, fragrance that feels banana, pine, black tea and oak after calming Sweet and chili spice, vanilla and cream, faint cinnamon and sour feeling, smooth ok feeling smooth and dry Taste Pepper and oak 's woody, finish feeling sourness and bitter taste of grapefruit. Glen rivet alpha in black bottle, secret bottle with no information other than 50% frequency. Even if you feel multiple flavors or aromas of whisky while sharpening your senses without being influenced by information when drinking This bottle released by saying because they want it, and that mystery will be unraveled in the middle of June. While trying very enjoyable, it does not become a topic too much and it is a bottle that you enjoy with the basic bar only ... I purchased it to discuss with my wife (laugh) Personally, in the early 1990s distillation bourbon barrel aging, 18 to 22 years aged years rivets, what idea But··· Although there is a possibility of being young, smoothness which does not feel 50% and sweetness such as banana which seems to be derived from bourbon casks I feel that the dryness of oysters is matured. I think that this place is reasonable also from the price of the bottle, but it is quite fun to taste without any prior information is. For a bit dense Glen rivet, if you would like to try tasting please let us know ~

N: sugary and creamy, beautiful fruity. Suggestion of banana ice cream, but also custard, fruit (banana pear white peaches), with some tropical intuition. Clean as few, really the malt; suggestions of wooden planks. Coconut and vanilla. It has the advantage of being Glenlivet, and so even if simple manages to be clean and fruity with good intensity. After tasting it, we also notice a citrus note. P: a series of oddities, starting from a very marked sweetness and yet not fruity as we would have expected, nor on the other end the creaminess of the nose. There is a lot of sugar malt still unremarkable, quite alcoholic but well supported by a well chewable body. He knows about ... whisky! A thread of coconut, then wood, dried fruit, between hazelnut and almonds. With water, the palate is pulverized on the wood with menthol notes. F: clean, not very long, with a sharp increase in dried fruit. If we had not known the recipe, we would have talked about an aging ex-bourbon, loaded and not very varied, very based on malt; knowing that they are probably virgin barrels conditioned in scotch, we get suggestions of "whisky to the second", with the merits of Glenlivet on display (fruit and cleaning).

An interesting Scotch but not unforgettable.
    • Nose
Vanilla, cane sugar, tropical fruits, locust beans then dried daisy and fresh butter, a delicate sweetness (Bourbon casks?). In a second time Bronte’s pistachio, star anise and mellow peaches.
    • Taste
A little different than the smell, cocoa, sawdust, burned coffee, rosehip (What about the fruity sweetness?), then again dark chocolate, pepper spices.
    • Finish
Persistent, chewing gum, pepper spices and peaches.

    Good? Certainly.
Special? Well, not so much. But a very nice aperitif to be sure. The bottle
sold out in a flash and now easily fetches 200 to even 400 EUR. Thanks, Femke.
    And happy birthday to you!
    • Nose
      The nose is very
fruity, almost like lemonade. Satsuma, pineapple, rhubarb, oranges, cherries, coconut.
It does not end. A bit of puff pastry. Add some vanilla custard, toffee and
nuts and you have a very light footed, fruity aperitif style whisky.
    • Taste
      The arrival is fairly
light, but again very fruit. Call it honeysweet. Pineapple and oranges in the
lead. Gooseberries join in. The nuts reveal themselves as almonds. Something that
reminds me of pastry again. A mild pepper and clear hint of cloves.
    • Finish
      The finish is still
quite sweet and dies a spicy death.

An enigma from Glenlivet - Alpha. The bottle has the minimum amount of information required, and they have released no details of the whisky other than the strength - 50% ABV.
