[November, 2017] I had this dram during a FoSM club tasting "Through the decades - 1930's to 2000's". I bought this bottle no. 10 for 98 Euro in March, 2015.

[August, 2017]  Together with friends I emptied bottle no. 27 that I bought for 88 Euro in March, 2015.

This is exceptional stuff with an incredible fruity and nutty profile.  The nose is like walking over a tropical fruit market (it reminds me a little bit of mid-sixties Bowmores, but to be honest it is not on eye-level).  On the palate this profile is joined by impressive nutty flavours that are irresistable when combined with the exotic fruitiness.  The finish is long and again complex both on fruity and nutty aromas.

This was one of the best price-quality-ratios of the last five years...
    • Nose
      92 92
apricots, guava, mango, yellow plums, grapes, hazel nuts, sweet chestnuts, old papers (from the 19th century), OBFs (old bottle flavours)
    • Taste
      90 90
creamy, white grapes, exotic fruits, hazel nuts, walnuts, sweet chestnuts, old papers (from the 19th century), with water added: more herbal
    • Finish
      92 92
medium length, fruity-sweet, cane sugars, spicy woods

covers everything, just stunning. Who needs sherry or smoke?
    • Nose
Orange peel, beeswax, cantaloupe, then tropical fruits, papaya, mango, very complex fruit flavors, later cereals and oats, and again and again fruits
    • Taste
oily, nutty-sweet, great mouthfeel, grapes, a bit dry, balanced between sweet and spicy
    • Finish
the full oak cargo remains incredibly long prickling on the cheeks

[October, 2015]  Together with friends I emptied bottle no. 31 that I bought for 88 Euro in March, 2015.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90.  Please see detailed review note below based on another bottle no. 27.

A whisky that didn't spend all the time in casks may be younger than the amount of years between distillation and bottling. Only the time spent in casks count.
So the 21years out of 1990-2013 may be correct.
The label thing would be another possible explanation, although I don't believe that a pro like Donald Hart would do such things.

Propably had some spare labels from the last Bottling of Ben Nevis 1990 and did not want to print new ones, with the correct age statement

nice dram, sadly not cask strenght

Am wondering why this shall be 21 years old only. Distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2013 should at least be 22 years always....
