A solid Entry level Single Malt but the 48% non chill-filtered version beats it by a good amount.

  5. Robinzon25 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Warming, pleasant, soft, sherry whisky. In my opinion, this Aberlour is one of the best 12 year old sherry whiskys.
    • Nose
Sherry, tart, with notes of cherries, cherries, sugary odorous prunes, tobacco leaf, almonds and chocolate.
    • Taste
The taste is dominated by shades of cherries, dried fruits, nuts and oak.
    • Finish
Medium-long, fairly sweet, moderately oak, filled with echoes of cherry jam, prunes, dried apricots, almonds and dark chocolate.

  6. Alexandr_Zhurov did not rate this whisky Expert Junior

For 12 years it seemed rude, the aroma reminded Glenfarclas 105, but some more honey, like nothing remarkable.
    • Nose
Fresh, fragrant, herbaceous, honey-floral, ordinary sherry.
    • Taste
It tasted cold, syrupy, honey, sweet, dry apples, light grassy bitterness.
    • Finish
Harsh, long-lasting, sweet, light bitterness, some spices in the form of pepper.

  9. Calmar scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

A good young sherry mole, a relatively deep and complex flavor, taste / finish spoils the general subtilism and wateriness, generally light and pleasant, an excellent whisky for the beginner.
    • Nose
Open, wet, raw barrel, spicy oak, compote of dried fruits, raisins, fresh herbaceous notes, caramel, candy drops, light citrus notes
    • Taste
Watery, light, tart oak, soft peppery wave, furniture varnish, kvasnoe wort, burnt crackers, cola, light notes of dark beer.
    • Finish
Light, warming, dried fruits with dominant prunes, light furniture-oak colors, butteriness, dried mushrooms, light metal sour.

  10. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

With 46% that would probably be a fat cracker, he is with 40 € / liter a cheap, very tasty sherry starter - any time, no shelf is ashamed.
    • Nose
mild, but direct - milk chocolate, orange jelly, drinking cocoa, slightly nutty
    • Taste
just a short greeting from the orange, instead raisin, in addition chocolate, nut, cocoa, a bit bitter, a little spicier, than the nose can expect, by the 40% but still very mild and round
    • Finish
      medium and soft, chocolate, cocoa

Easy and simple single malt scotch. Nothing special, quiet basic.

  17. Dramned! scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

In the nose very promising, spicy, pithy and many fruit flavors and clearly sherry on the palate but then very disappointing - lax and watery. a real finish is hardly available. This malt would have done 46% alcohol really well!
That Aberlour can do it differently, they have proven with the 12yo Non-Chill Filtered! It has drive and everything is right there - from the nose to the finish. But this one on the palate is far too thin and watered down. A pity!

Ordinary Aberlour. Pleasant and drinkable, but not wow. Great for mid-sherried whiskies fans for easy sipping. That's all.
    • Nose
Almonds with wood notes, hints of vanilla and honey.
    • Taste
Caramel with nuts, reminds me chocolate cake with some notes of maple syrup. Raisins and honey, cedar nuts.
    • Finish
Long, with notes of almonds with orange peel and long cut grass aroma.

A unique expression within the Aberlour range, aged in fresh Oloroso Sherry butts, some of the most precious and expensive in use for maturing single malts. Every year, our Master Distiller travels to southern Spain and hand-picks the finest casks to bring back.

This whisky is available exclusively through selected travel retail partners.
