Whisky Reviews for buair an diabhail of Islay tempt the devil

With water: No, he definitely doesn't need it!

Conclusion: A board that is more complex than the first nose would suggest. Give him time, a cold winter's day outside, maybe a fire in the fireplace and you can enjoy the whisky. The only troublesome troubles are the bitter walnut notes in the finish. If I had to guess, I would bet on a Lagavulin here
    • Nose
      89 89
beautiful, somewhat dirty peat mass that immediately makes you think of the Isaly south coast, "hug a bear", to quote an old master, followed by a great sweetness that reminds of caramel, some wild strawberries, vanilla and biscuit dough and coconut flakes, strong alcohol, but this carries the whisky well and is not really spicy or disturbing, with a little time blood orange then fights through the peat, which also keeps changing towards tar
    • Taste
      88 88
Vanilla, some fruit, then the strong peat takes command, lightly burnt notes, caramel and oak
    • Finish
      86 86
Long and intense, the peat fire blazes beautifully, but after a while it becomes quite bitter on the palate, like burnt walnut kernels

Oh, oh, oh ... a dangerously tasty cow whisky. Or as the last bouncer.
    • Nose
Violent smoke rises from the glass. In addition delicious caramel and toffee. A little bit of vanilla and forest honey. The alcohol is fully there.
    • Taste
Less smoky and alcoholic than the nose suggests. Very creamy and somehow restrained. Overall, very harmonious. Now comes a little oak. Slightly dry.
    • Finish
The finish is a bit smoother again, but comes from the intensity but not to the nose. Now it gets really spicy and bitter. The finish is also pretty long. Again vanilla and caramel.
