Whisky Reviews for Tomatin 1992

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.55 points

  1. Sonett scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Sweet nose of dark fruits, Raisins, Dates, Figs but also a little toffee  light chocolate and vanilla. In the background a sulfur tendency
    • Taste
Soft entry dominated by the dark fruits, then a growing spicy taste accompanied by a light taste of oak
    • Finish
Medium long with fading spices turning to sweet toffee

  2. ValeronDeportivo scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

If this was a big bodied whisky, like Springbank or Mortlach for example, the sulfur would pass - as a feature even perhaps. But on this delicate Tomatin its a little too much.
    • Nose
A lovely nose, accessible without water.

Raisins, dates, and a little milk chocolate.
After the addition of water the chocolate turns to coffee and the raisins to cherries.

This nose reminds me of some GlenDronachs.
    • Taste
The body is round and oily, initially sweet but then a sulfury wave hits, leaving a bitter aftertaste.

After several drops of water, and 15 minutes later, the whisky's body is just as oily, and much much sweeter. The dates speak loud, really a Silan date syrup. sadly traces of the sulfur remain, and they do taint the taste a little.
    • Finish
Sweet dates and raisins, but again the sulfur disturbes. Medium length.

  3. Ras Mazunga scored this whisky 85 points Super Administrator

A whisky with a very nice smell. Fresh fruit mix with a lot of (red) apples and grapes. Hints of oak and spices like nutmeg.
There`s a lot of sulphur in the taste. It seems the sulphur taste decreases after a few drops of water. Besdies the sulphur I taste raisins, apples, sandalwood and cinnamon.
The finish is spicy like cinnamon can be.
Nice whisky but the sulphury note is distracting me too much.
