Whisky Reviews for BenRiach 1976
5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 90.97 points
- We are far from the usual profile of Benriach 76 on the exotic fruit.
It is very vegetal and surprisingly, it works pretty well. The balance is there and the complexity too. Especially in the mouth.
Very good glass.
It's very green. Grass, hay, licorice, fresh mint, chives. Black pepper, wild garlic.
Apple granny. Pineapple bark and green banana. Apricot.
Very very light sugar cane. Cristalized sugar.
Pretty amazing profile.
On the palate it's always quite fresh.
Spearmint, lemon, yuzu, apricot, white grape.
White flowers, lily of the valley. Green apple, pear.
Final in the continuity of the mouth and nose on the grass, camphor, herbs and citrus fruits.
After a few minutes, a little pineapple and ginger.
- Tasting Notes:
- The typical 1976 fruitiness is covered by a bunch of grassy herbal medicine....
what a pity!
Just like drinking the cough syrup....sweet bitter grassy.....hmnn....yuck
It's just not what I appreciate..
But if you don't mind that grassy bitter feeling...
There is still something good in this dram..
