    Blind mystery tasting.
This is a pretty balanced whisky with nothing too out of place.
    • Nose
      89 89
slightly meaty; higher alcohol than Glass 1; Barbecued meat - perhaps umami/savoury
    • Taste
      85 85
      satisfying but not that remarkable
    • Finish
      88 88
medium (just); very pleasant (tannic in small measure). Some heat but spiciness is kept in check.

It is pleasant enough but lacks the consistency for the potential of true greatness. There is some kind of immaturity in it and an over-sweetness/over-dryness in it. There are way better same era SC-expressions at Glendro that I have tasted. The only problem are the current prices: im willing to take the odds with a 70-80€ bottle but not so much with twice the price... Quite in the same opinion with Chano, there are inconsistencies, off-balances and strangely young sherry notes: in my experience it would make sense that it was finished with an overcoat. I went through the whole bottle but could not find a really balanced sweet-spot.
    • Nose
Some wet gravel & stone without water: seems totally closed. With some water and time: birch sap, dark chocolate, rumraisin, maple syrup. A tarty and fresh red apple. Some chalk. Lime with raw cane sugar. Toffee. Strong herbal, rather dry and salty sherry. Also some forest-bed with the moss. Thyme.
    • Taste
Sweet syrup, red apple, grainy, soft and sweet citrus as of tangerine and orange. Cumin, basil, coriander, rosé-pepper. A really sturdy sweet sherry, so strong that it is a bit too much. Thyme. Lime-peel and a very strong sherryish date, raisin and leather.
    • Finish
Very sweet: syrup, rowan-candy. Long and strong.

I get the impression this whisky had a finish on a first fill PX cask for a couple of years. That is a shame because I really love that old tobacco-leather notes most sherried whisky at this age has.

People will probably disagree with me :-)
    • Nose
Dark bitter chocolat and fresh sweet sherry. With water more green herpes - mostly mint and sage. In the background is dark berries tea that has brewed too long. Maybe a bit vinous??
    • Taste
Definitely vinous sherry. Strange the 17 years haven't got rid of it. Also sweet. Like molasses... and some malty notes too.

Dried apricot, orange peel and seethed fresh tomatoes, peppers (that's right!)
    • Finish
Ends in bitter chokolat and coffee.

Heavy PX notes immediately apparent.  Sweet rum and raisins on the nose. Dark chocolate. With water, initial expansion of the above, some lemon verbena notes creep in.  Make no mistake, this is a high quality sherry monster. but overall just a little too "sickly sweet" sherry for my tastes - oloroso is my preference for Glendronach single casks.

    Single dram note. 2013_11:
    sherry, raisins & some rum.

    Producer`s Notes:

Appearance: Rich polished mahogany.Nose: Fantastic depth. Chocolate, toffee and rum-raisins combine with crisp autumn fruits.Palate: A robust depth of luscious sherry gives rich, chocolate-fudge zested with orange marmalade. Ripe plums and spiced stewed apples bring a crisp balance in the long, traditional-style finish.
