  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

A typical Tullibardine profile for me.
    • Nose
Malty and yeasty. Cereal. Some fruity notes of pear and melon. A little bit dusty.
    • Taste
Smooth and creamy. Juicy oakiness. Fruity sweetness of apricots and plums. Slightly spiced later on.
    • Finish
Medium long. Becomes quite bitter at the end.

  2. Brunobaer1887 scored this whisky 57 points Expert Senior

One of the most disappointing drams of my life, the rest I gave away to an unknown alcoholic from my area (placed on the wall in front of the door)

The smell is better than the taste, the finish almost does not exist. Maybe in higher ABV taste and finish would have more to offer.
    • Nose
      85 85
vanilla, fruit, something sweet, almonds, wine
    • Taste
      81 81
      wood, cake, caramel
    • Finish
      78 78
      short oil for dough

  5. Moses scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

It was included as a gift when the order was placed. But didn't really pick me up. Just a standard finish.
    • Nose
Light fruits with vanilla in the background. Wine smell.
    • Taste
Oranges in nuts in custard. Totally ok. Peppered bread. Some herbs in the background.
    • Finish
Long finish with spicy almonds in gingerbread. That was it.

  6. kikist scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

I guess it's probably young whisky (judged by the price and lack of age statement), but for me it's not that obvious for me!
Good value but missing something... Miss complexity for me
    • Nose
      83 83
A lot of caramel, some vanilla, red fruit, onion, touch of oak... after some time in the glass some herbal notes pops up, slightly gingery
    • Taste
      78 78
Watery arrival, then it transforms. Touch of onion, some bitterness, little bit chemical, pretty sour, some unripe fruits
    • Finish
      80 80
Little bit dry, touch of alcohol, bitter cocoa, black coffee, some spiciness, some sourness, after some time there is interesting melon/herbal/earthy tasta (it's the best point of the whisky for me)

  9. AdelphosHume scored this whisky 75 points Expert Senior

Decent enough for mixing, but it had persistent youthful, sour fruit and acetone notes and a bit too much oak, which made drinking it straight unpleasant.

  10. Saftkenner scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

A very pleasant and tasty easy-drinking malt with a good price-performance ratio. Quite balanced for a Tullibardine and without any obvious off-notes.
    • Nose
      86 86
A pleasant and very subtle nose with light, sweetish tropical notes. Vanilla, honey, wine gum (tropical fruits), pineapple, red apple, bitter almond aroma, slightly spicy oak.
    • Taste
      86 86
Creamy and sweet on the palate. Red, sugared berries, honeydew melon, sweet raisins, light citrus notes, papaya.
    • Finish
      85 85
Short to medium-length finish. Brownie batter, caramel, raspberries, blackberries.

  11. hafssol scored this whisky 82 points Expert Junior

An interesting mix between a (reasonably) young Highland malt and a fruity red wine finish. The result is well balanced and rewarding for its round taste and quite long rounded finish.
No sense of flavour nor colour added to this one, but just the natural taste of wood reminding its red wine content. Rewarding and very good for the price.

  12. Syleo scored this whisky 80 points Expert Senior

Overall, despite the NAS, it has a beautiful burgundy finish: light without appearing flat, fruity without drowning in wine and hard to beat in terms of price-performance.
    • Nose
      86 86
Red-gold, almost like polished copper, the 228 Tulli paints a heavy edge and amazingly thick streaks on the glass wall. Are there caramel candies? So if so, they should smell the same! Plentiful sugar candy in a fruit tea could also get in - a freshly opened raisin bag, red grapes, slightly unripe strawberries and oranges play into each other. At most, the barrel can be seen as a light nut note, a few crumbs of shortbread and malt with all the fruit remind of fruit muesli. In addition, there are also quite floral notes of herbs, parsley and lavender. A nice fruity nose that does not drown in the wine and fruit aromas.
    • Taste
      79 79
The citrus fruits in the mouth play fruity, even slightly minty, from oranges and lemon to slightly bitter grapefruit, with a few spoons of vanilla sauce poured over them. Again no wood, but from the third sip onwards, stronger hazelnuts and marzipan, with a certain acidity and slight bitterness.
    • Finish
      74 74
The mint also runs down the throat, now a hint of oak meets butter biscuits in the medium-long finish and burns with a slight acidity and winy memories.

nice tasty easy-drinking-dram with super PLV
    I like him
    • Nose
nice wine notes !!, light leather and increases, tart note, red apples become more, tannins, Christmas spices, oak becomes stronger, raspberry, green herbs, sweetness becomes stronger, vanilla comes, so simple sweet candies from childhood
    • Taste
soft and silky on the palate
Wine notes, red berries, soapy notes, floral, green herbs, dark caramel, oak, slightly raisin, spicy increases, the alcohol tingles somewhat
    • Finish
      short to medium long
Oak, red apple, tart, dark berries, goes from sweet to bitter

    Blind tasting:
Nose: intense cherry, milk chocolate, really good
Taste: at first sweet and fruity, then the spice beats, medium complexity
Finish: intense, relatively long-lasting, spicy, strong, oak, spices, dark chocolate remains
Conclusion: 84/100 with clear strengths in the nose
Annotation; Some time ago I rated an earlier batch of this bottling with an expandable 73/100, now I have again directly tasted, continue to make a difference, but would give the former batch now at least 81/100

Nose is promising, but it is a bit simple and tart in the palate, finish is dry and short. It’s a ok, but forgettable dram.
    • Nose

    • Taste
      82 82

Rather tart toward the death, but otherwise a well-made and appropriately intense budget malt for lovers of fruity, spicy Highland whiskies.

Great, if not complex entry into the red wine finishes.
    • Nose
Direct intense intense red berries and grapes, a corresponding sweetness and a lot of caramel and vanilla. Immediately afterwards comes milk chocolate, which lasts a long time. At the end, a little spice comes along. Hardly alcohol in the nose ... The wine from the barrel left a strong aroma in the probably very short finish.
    • Taste
On the tongue mild and pleasantly full. Directly come the red berries, as is the chocolate. Very voluminous and sweet, on the tongue and in the back cheek then very dry. Here comes the barrel again. Warm and sweet on the palate.
    • Finish
Long, warm finish. The sweetness is still there. The milk chocolate changes slightly to dark. The dryness is less. No unpleasant bitterness and hardly any alcohol.

The smell promises a little more than the whisky then gives it taste. Here I would have promised more of the Burgundy finish. The finish is consistent and overall, you can only feel the whisky as pleasant. The price is more than fair and pulls the overall rating up significantly. Bottle design and optics, I would call very successful.

For the estimated 30 euros can be surprisingly much for a NAS. The finish in Burgundy barrel could have been a bit longer, I think he could have taken even more flavor and allowed. But as I said, for the price that is already a great whisky.
    • Nose
Fresh bourbon breeze followed by the typical scent of a Pinot Noir. In the background red apple.
    • Taste
Strong oak notes, strong nutty and slightly creamy. Burgundy can only be guessed at. Colorful sweetmeat mix. Certain sharpness is present, dry at the second sip. A little water in between, not in the whisky itself, helps.
    • Finish
Short to medium long with mild oak. In the background, there is a bigger hint of burgundy, together with chocolate and nuts.

Little complex, but solid in what he does. Price of course sexy, more would not be appropriate here.
    • Nose
Fruity, already clearly reminiscent of red wine. Light vanilla and a little cinnamon. Touch of pear, the fruitiness and red wine note come but always in the foreground.
    • Taste
Quite dry, oak in the foreground & only slight sweetness (unlike the nose). Little complex, some spices in the direction of pepper. Add to that a very small bit of tropical fruits.
    • Finish
Short and dry, dominated by the oak. Slight fruitiness, but hardly worth mentioning.

Sweet, pleasant, pleasing with this interesting wine character, which sets the whisky apart from others and makes it interesting again and again. 80!
    • Nose
Viney, malty, spicy nose. Interesting. Malt, something sweet.
    • Taste
Spicy-sweet and vinous. Malty and relatively intense.
    • Finish

A whisky that I really liked during a tasting, when it was released. A bottle that I brought back home and that I have never appreciated in the same way. The influence of what I had tasted before? The particular context? Now with hindsight, knowing that these barrels of wine are not the ones I prefer ... On the whisky itself, well I find the nose rather subtle, but a mouth a little too light, with a lack of variations, character. Not a failure, but it seems that the new versions of Tullibardine have a little trouble to take off and get a clear recognition. (Whisky Passion).
    • Nose
Fresh fruits, grapes. Greasy texture. Of course the finish is very noticeable, this winey character, red fruit. A spicy support presents itself, in order to bring a small complexity, cloves. There is also some kind of sweet milk, vanilla sugar or something like that.
    • Taste
Smooth in the mouth, but still very light. From the outset they are fruits, they are a little more candied, type of red fruit paste. I would say that it also has some apricot, orange. There is a relationship with mutated wines, by its mocha side, of sherry.
    • Finish
Keeps its fruity, spicy. Dry wood, but also a little tart.

    • Nose
Sweet, red wine, vanilla, seasoning, oak
    • Taste
Sweetness, wine notes, berries, chocolate, citrus notes, spice, pepper, oak,
    • Finish
Very dry. Sweet and oak remains something else, otherwise quickly gone

  39. vojt466 scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

Again, one meeting with the Tullibardine distillery and again we did not sit - we can get a better drink at that price
    • Nose
Strawberries, cherries, jam, vanilla, light to bourbon - does not blame it badly
    • Taste
The taste is less fruity, quite a lot of spicy, chocolate and lightly alcoholic
    • Finish
In the not so pleasant reverberation of chocolate, cocoa, spiciness - to the end it bitter already a little too much

  40. LiquidThoughts scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

Well, what can you say? I was a little disappointed already. If everything is not so balanced and of course very young, then 10-15 euros more expensive and work something, Tullibardine!
    • Nose
Very sweet, strong red wine (but not of the expensive variety), some vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon, a bit damp oak and red apples, but all in such small short stings with alcohol (despite 43%)
    • Taste
Almost unpleasantly pampy-sweet at the beginning, like babysat made of dates, sugar and red apples, if there were no rules I would say that would be artificially sweetened, vanilla, a little cinnamon, all lightly alcoholic despite the 43% again, slightly kräutrig wet Oak
    • Finish
Very dry, short to medium long, bitter with apple skin and moist oak and some metal

Very tasty with good PLV, but unfortunately without much complexity. Buy another bottle? - rather no.
    • Nose
Sweet nose, immediately a red wine note, alcohol is easily noticeable, spicy oak, cherries, vanilla, cinnamon, slowly comes on a nutty note, ripe apples, citrus fruits. Nice nose for his age.
    • Taste
Very creamy mouthfeel, red wine sweetness, vanilla, getting drier quickly
    • Finish
dry, warm finish, chocolate, oak remains with a slight bitterness

  43. WhiskyLovingPianist scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

N: 228 refers to the cask size [in litres] of burgundy casks. That's a cunning way of having big numbers on the bottle without an age statement now isn't it. More sulphury-copper notes than the Sovereign WB yet they both share the same neutral-malt-base character.

T: The [burgandy] finish makes the spirit more interesting it has to be said. I really enjoyed the second wave of boozy, sweet toffee into the finish. I really want to find a name for this transitional point, it's often my favourite part of a whisky.
F: Finishes well, staying true to the spirit.
C: Good finish, totally credible. It just needs heaps more time in really good casks if it's going to make some serious noise in this highly competitive single malt arena [2016] - the spirit is decent enough for it.

    Scores a C-

  44. Joschbert scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

I like the nose a bit better than the rest. The finish is a bit one-dimensional. Overall pleasant with rough edges. An old age would be nice, but it does not look extremely young.
    • Nose
Vanilla, sweet and sour overripe fruits, pineapple, braeburn apples, organic, cassis, raspberries, cinnamon and clove
    • Taste
Vanilla, apricot, caramel, stone fruit, some oak bitterness, kirsch, chocolate, cinnamon
    • Finish
Oak, dry, almond. Echoes of a bourbon

One of the good NASes. Still a bit unbalanced and not so complex despite nice surprises.
    • Nose
Winy, jelly beans, spice, oven-fresh pepper bread, scent of dark chocolates, then again dry fruity red wine, blackberry
    • Taste
fruity red wine, sweet chocolate cream, then comes almost unexpectedly quite strong spiciness, some white pepper
    • Finish
stronger than expected, sweetened espresso, getting drier, a little bit of wine remains

    • Nose
Toller kräftiger Antritt in der Nase. Viel Würze. Wärmend. Dann wirds fruchtig. Kirschen. Und zuletzt süß mit Vanille.
    • Taste
Mild und angenehm auf der Zunge. Leicht würzig. Eichentöne. Weniger süß als die Nase. Wird recht schnell trocken. Es fehlt ein wenig an Komplexität.

A great, young but surprising malt. Something extraordinary and great P / L ratio.
    • Nose
the wine aroma is immediately there and clearly fruity, behind forest fruits, association of frozen strawberries, later dark chocolate and a hint of sweetness with vanilla or honey
    • Taste
here, too, the red wine comes through immediately, fruity creamy, sweetish, towards the end becoming drier, again bittersweet chocolate, oak, but also impetuous. The youthfulness can be seen doing the thing but no demolition.

This is a spiced whisky with a creamy richness. Very enjoyable neat.
The red burgundy influence is obvious but nicely balanced by the bourbon
casks. Needs time to develop its full aroma. A delicious dram and a
good value for the money. It's difficult to prefer the 225 Sauternes
Finish to the 228 Burgundy Finish. Both are well-balanced with delicate
spice and a nicely enjoyable fruitiness, with the latter being
different. If I had to choose between them, I would take both.

    • Nose
The nose starts off with red berry fruit, raspberry and red apples with
underlying tropical fruits, like banana, melon and also apricots. The
alcohol is present and not yet fully integrated but allows vanilla,
honey and butterscotch to come through, along with a touch of chocolate.
The fruity nose is complemented by sensible oak spices.
    • Taste
A smooth and creamy start on the palate. A subtle taste of ripe red
fruits, red apples, plums, and delicate honey, along with slightly
bitter orange zest. Midpalate there's a significant amount of oak spice
coming through with nutmeg and a whiff of marzipan. Nicely
      mouth-coating.
    • Finish
A medium to long, fruity and warm finish. Gets drier in the end with beautiful allspice and sticky plum marmalade. WITH WATER: There's less fruit but significant more spice on nose and
palate. The finish is shorter with a superb balance of fruit and spice.

Older? I do not care. That is good and the price (~ 38 €) fits.
    • Nose
Dusty-dry red wine, red berries, nougat, slightly spicy hotness, dry herbs, hay
    • Taste
sweet, nutty, brandy cherry, slightly breaded, some pepper
    • Finish
medium length, nougat and some peppery spiciness

I am glad this is not overly winy nor oaky. Excellent balance.

Water gives an immediate boost but then with time goes a bit off.
    • Nose
A bit burning at first. Some butter and fresh herbs, balsamic, cumin seeds, light vanilla, coconut and ginger curry

Water and time make the nose a bit grassy and soaked cashew nuts like.
    • Taste
      sweet, sherry-like at first,
body feels a bit thin but at the same time is oily and sticky

Water - adds a nice brown sugar sweetness; a nice bitter edge also appears and marries well with the sweetness - oranges. very juicy - ripe fruits.
    • Finish
Medium, sweet with vanilla and just a slight spiciness.

This is my second Tullibardine and my second wine finish, very different from my last one, and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try something different. Some wine finishes will be poor and some will be great, this is a great one.

A highly enjoyable dram. I bought this at the Tynemouth whisky festival.
    • Nose
A light delicate nose of sweet honey and some lovely vanilla fudge to start off with, plum and caramel chocolate swiftly follow, ending with a tinge of orange.
    • Taste
A light smooth and subtle taste of ripe fruit, slightly astringent with a hint of coconut. The wine finish marries well with the oak, nothing to overpowering. Delicious.
    • Finish
A medium dry fruity, wine gum finish with sweet orange on the death.

    The wine influence is
very clear, but nicely balanced by the bourbon casks, preventing this from
become vinous. Just under 40 EUR.
    • Nose
      The nose starts off
very spicy. Think nutmeg and cloves. Immediately followed by a creamy sweetness
of toffee and caramel. Fruit association? Sure. Banana, raspberry and red
berries. Strawberries too. Vanilla custard. Hint of apricot pie. Nuts.
    • Taste
      It is less creamy on
the palate than I expected, but still nicely mouth coating. Red fruit again,
supported by some toasted oak. Some apple, skins included, develops clearly. Pink
Ladies? Midpalate some blood oranges kick in, a touch zesty. This is quite
      good.
    • Finish
      The finish is long
and warm, beautifully spicy and reminds me most of a red marmalade.
