This was a pleasant surprise, a sample courtesy of Peatbogger. Love to see what this distillery has to offer in the future.
    • Nose
      75 75
Tea with lots of milk, a faint smell of aniseed, some stewed vegetables and nettle leaf. The nose isn't it's strong point but what do you expect.
    • Taste
      83 83
Definitely some citrus notes, a bit chalky and a bit dry but that works well together then it turns woody and dare I say salty which isn't bad either. It feels a lot higher than 46% but still very palatable, it holds together well with what it has. This has a lot going for it and I was expecting something bog standard.
    • Finish
      82 82
The finish isn't bad either, more of that salt with added spices to leave a little tingle on the tongue.

As a Norwegian malt fan, this very first Norwegian single malt was a must have.

That said, €55 for a 350ml of 3yo is insane.
    • Nose
Upon opening the bottle there is an imidiate strong waft of unpleasant yeast, like old time moonshine made with common bakers yeast. Same experience with two bottles.

Leave it for 5 minutes and this disapears, also from the bottle if you leave it open.

As it opens up the dominating aromas are those of malt and raisins.
    • Taste
Not bad compared to expectations on the first nosing.

Malt, breakfast tea and sweet orange, soft pepper.
    • Finish
      Short and not very complex.

Oak, or rater more wood, and a slight hint of the sherry raisins.

  4. Malt Hans scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Malty and fruity aroma, raisins, lime,

lavender, linseed oil and spruce wood. Vanilla sweet and malty aroma,

pepper, orange marmalade, prune compote and tea. Medium long and malty

    end.
