N: Not dissimilar to cask 10344 [WB] for it shares similar themes but this is much more an old, savoury, forest floor malt. Theres still a school dessert vibe here, maybe its prune juice in custard? This smells old - old pickled walnuts, root veg, yeast, mint. tamarind, saffron, and - oh no, smelly socks, yep!. Time to get out of there.
T: Peppery, sharp, hot, yikes! Quick, add water, it doesn't spoil anything but sweetens and cools. This malt keeps changing offering herbal, wood, vodka and peppery pancakes for example. Theres lots swimming around including a slight sulphur note for a second or two.
F: Boy theres lots happening here. Its hinting at everything, i caught some malty custard notes and a cherry liquor at the death was most evident.
C: This is different, special even. Its very intense. Once id identified the smelly socks, that spoilt the nose. Everything else is a wonderful adventure. On the palate - its like a herbal vodka, charming, The finish is especially curious especially with the succinct cherry liquor at the death. Im not sure i could handle a whole bottle though and this one is hard to score because its so unusual. My last words - unique, unusual, special and challenging.
