  1. schengel10 scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

    Young, intense, and ... with plenty of water ... really good!
    [Color] full gold;

    Would you really like to know which malts are included?
    • Nose
      82 82
      intense, dark fruits, lots of sherry, alcohol. Spiciness, spice; with water also honey, caramel;
    • Taste
      81 81
      with water: powerful, fruity, oily, lots of sherry, caramel, spices, pepper, chilli, cloves, some oak, youth;
    • Finish
      81 81
      medium length, rough, spicy, fading dry;

  2. dramspotter scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

    Yes, the finish is not a smooth ride but the overall nose and delivery are quite consistent. If you like your sherried whiskies on the sweeter side this is recommended.
    • Nose
      84 84
      sweet succulent sherry; not hard and oppressive but creamy and a touch fruity, but the fruit of dry fruits with caramel. There is a very slight vinegar note but not offputting, more a slight contrast
    • Taste
      81 81
      tangy and a bit sharp; the sweetness disappears and there is a more steely dryness and acidity
    • Finish
      81 81
      medium+; somewhat rough and leathery with acidic tannins but it is not that unbalancing; only a slight bitterness

  3. St. Pauli scored this whisky 83 points Connoisseur

    A strange encounter, going from very sweet to quite dry and bitter. Furthermore, the caramel/toffee dominance is not so much to my liking.
    • Nose
      Orange, caramel toffee, beeswax, dried fruits (apricots, prunes even dried pineapple!) and honey.
    • Taste
      Hot, waxy very sweet, with burnt caramel, lots of honey-glazed fruits, barley and chilies.
    • Finish
      Short and drying, in which the burnt caramel still dominates, and is accompanied by ginger, gentian and green herbs.

    Westport is often described as Glenmorangie with a teaspoon of Glen Moray.
    But most likely…just pure Glenmorangie!
