Whisky Reviews for Lagavulin 1990

- Blind tasting.
Smoke, sausage, salt - baked bacon, some orange and pepper.
Smoke, ashes, salt, pepper and liquorice - zoethout.
Ashes, salt, pepper and some peat. Syrup, caramel and again smoke.
- Seems like the sherry casks had more grip on this whisky than in more recent versions of the DE. Beautiful.
Cranberry, raspberry, peat, chocolate, leather, plum and liquorice.
Cherry, cranberry, peat, leather, chocolate, plum and toffee.
Chocolate, hazelnut paste, cherry, bramble, peat and plum.
- What I have often enjoyed about the Distillers Edition is the
sophistication of each different bottle released. They all have
individual character that are hard to match up. I love the smoke, peat
and lush fruit like complexity in each drink. When you add a few drops
of water it comes alive and the palate just gets more vibrant and a
finish that`s equally wonderful.
- Slight peat smoke with a nice fragrance. Well balanced with notes of Islay peat, sea salt on the palate. Very positive is the pleasant, not too intrusive smoke. Perfectly balanced result sherry notes with a long finish, a top Lagavulin.
Fresh, sea, sherry oak, heather
soft at the begining, but powefull and complex, sherry notes, toasted
very long, sherry, smoked and toasted.
