- 'Wonderfully balanced Speysider'
N: Youthful spirit offering pineapples, young bananas and 'snowed' apples, custard and fresh wood - its like snapping a young branch in half. Floury malt coming through as you'd expect from s Speysider, honey, cloves, orange and other citrus, pear and some strong floral pollen, jasmine and lillies. I just got a burst of vanilla ice-cream, marvellous. Overall - Lemon, butter, banana loaf. But lets not forget the impressive and overall spicy, peppery, sharp intensity from spirit and cask.
T: Creamy lemon icing from french fancies, banana loaf and peppery honey in equal measure, nothing taking centre stage, a harmonious maturation, Adding water doesn't affect the profile so help yourselves, adding It provides more of a grainy floury texture so common in Speysiders but personally i like it neat so this dram can show off its spirit qualities to the fullest.
F: Some bitter citrus and wood notes have a lot to say and initially have more stamina than the sugars. But minutes after the bitters subside, some varied honey notes appear coupled with waves of bananas and pineapples from the spirit as well as a fresh bitter note from the young fresh wood base.
C: This Balvenie is offering what i look for in Speysiders in general - a wonderful soft honey, floral sweetness with a fresh bitter undertone. I reckon this Balvenie as got the balance about right for its age.

Nose: Toasted, sweet nose with all kinds of charred oak and spice. Hints of maple syrup and allspice, a little vanilla and sweet coffee.
Palate: A complex, thick palate with allspice and toffee apples. Cooked fruit and baking spices, hints of sponge cake and creamy caramel.
Finish: Long, with lingering sweetness and spice.
