Whisky Reviews for Tullibardine 1989 C&S

I think the tasting note of malt_fan_06 is excellent!

I could not identify the laurel, which may have been the question mark with me. Also, I could not discover the mahogany, how does that taste?

Apart from that, described absolutely great, have experienced the same and even after some hesitation increased my score to 87 points, which is simply due to the fine composition and depth of this bottling. But this only comes with a wait of at least 10 minutes and the addition of an espresso spoonful of water to a well-poured dram.

weird dram but I like it, would not give this 23 years
    • Nose
wax, grains, vanilla, oily, spices - pepper, smoke and pine resin
    • Taste
bitter, vanilla, rubber, spices - nutmeg, some wasabi and lapsang souchong tea
    • Finish
medium drying with vanilla, smoke, tea, bitter fruits, creamy, wax and fudge

  3. Lucas Falchero scored this whisky 83 points Member Senior

A fairly classic whisky after all. Rather well composed.
    • Nose
Nose expressive. A lot of vanilla. A little rusted metal dust. A hint of smoke.
    • Taste
Mouth powerful, bitter and pungent. Very bitter. Surprisingly more violent than the nose!
    • Finish
Short and straightforward; it stops dead!

  4. tomy63 scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

pale gold, nice and classic nose, cereals, cut grass, vanilla, yellow fruits. The mouth is powerful but very bitter, well below the nose.

  5. malt_fan_06 scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

A characterful, delicious dram. Some water is appropriate here.
    • Nose
Oak, fine smoke, bergamot, cereals. Finely interwoven, deep and dense. Herbs, hay, green tea.
With water: fruity, slightly peppery, even more complex. In addition, malt and laurel.
    • Taste
Creamy, full-bodied, powerful. Matching sweetness, some smoke, some oak, harmonious. Full Willams pear. Carnations, Piement.
With water: emphasizes the sweetness in the approach and provides significantly more fruit, pear, peach, lemon. Malt, nuts.
Again spices (cardamom, cloves). And a touch of bergamot.
    • Finish
Dense, balanced, playing back and forth between spices and oak. A touch of dry fruit.
With water: malty, elegant. Again cloves and pimenta, getting dry, quite long, intense, vanilla, hay. Finally, mahogany and oak.

    • Nose
      Wood, lemon, vanilla and cinnamon
    • Taste
Spritness, birch wood, cardamom and anything from mulled wine
    • Finish
      Woody, gherkins
