Enthousiasme 3/5

This is dirty. The first thing I smell is cheese, which I associatie with Jura. Smith's Chipitos, or even Hamka's (cheese + ham). Cardboard and a little peanut. Later maltiness. With water orange, citrus, vanilla sugar and even a little honey.
Taste

Again cheese. Pepper and almond. With water orange, peanut butter, peat smoke and a beer-like hoppy touch. The cheese then also becomes less prominent, which is an improvement.

Finish

Cheese, almond, pepper and smoke.

Comments

Blind tasting of a sample in the Blind Tasting Competition. I guessed the distillery right as it's the only malt I know which can smell so abundantly of cheese. Except Frysk Hynder perhaps.

Nose

Vanilla, honey sweetness, something metallic, dark coffee beans, some red fruits, malty

Taste

Overripe red fruit, honey, dark chocolate, spices, malt, oak

Finish

Very malty, sweet, slightly drying, some overripe red fruit lingers, slightly bitter

Comments
Not very good except for the nose. Reminded me of the jura 16yo I once had. I gave that bottle away. I guess the profile doesn't suit me.

Tasted at day 13 of the Usquebaugh Society blind tasting competition 2015.

My guess was a Glenkinchie, 10yo at 46%.

Nose

Fruity nose with all kinds of berries and citrus fruit, upholstered with hazelnuts. Great farmy side. And, just as with the TWA, a bit of menthol. Sweetened farmer butter, becoming louder all the time. Leave it for five more minutes and it even becomes a bit tropical. Peach, indeed. Grand nose.

Taste

It is oily and spice (think licquorice, nutmeg and white pepper), with loads of orange zest. Quite some mint and peat, now, working wonders. White chocolat, filled with caramel. Midpalate it turns maritime with some salt and even seaweeds.

Finish

The finish is long, spicy and offers the final say to grapefruit.

Comments

What a complex dram! Even a bit better than the TWA, although not much. The Swedes should be so lucky. No more laughing at Jura, kids.
