Very interesting Grain, which shines in addition to a clear and manageable, good impression in the nose on the palate with strength and there already leads to a great peppery finish. Very nice grain.
    • Nose
At the last older Grains of the Cuttynotes I had always noticed at the beginning that they were already clearly recognizable as Grain at the first Nosing mE. I can not argue with this. Only after a few strokes with the nose does the grain note, which initially lingers in the background, counteract the rich vanilla aromas, but at no time does it displace the latter. A great composition. Initially perfumed, after a while drier, almost dusty, even this is meant rather positively in this case.
    • Taste
After an initial solvent a little later, a force pin remarkable for his age, the vanilla flavors are more in the background, but an indefinable astringent note in the mouth. Out back some cayenne.
    • Finish
Pleasantly long with an amazing peppery finish. Dryer than a Talisker, but as far as the pepperiness is concerned, surprisingly similar to younger Skye editions.

    Official tasting notes from Adelphi:

An intriguing look at an extremely rare and mature single grain whisky from this famous northern distillery.
A mid amber colour with copper lights and a light bead.
Alcoholic fruit salad to start, possibly even rum toft. Bags of coconut and caramel behind this, with a thread of linseed oil.
The fruit salad returns, now as orange peel soaked in brandy or even Bourbon.
A very thick mouth feel with milk chocolate and Highland toffee drying in the finish.
Water introduces fresh oil paints and cigar box with memories of a warm summer.
