Notes from an online blind tasting.

For me it starts out minerally and earthy. Musty cellar. Then the aromas come bit by bit. Overripe raspberries and figs. Yeast dough and canned cherries. Behind it a dry herbal note. With juicy oranges and cinnamon. Has a hint of Big Red chewing gum.
With a little time in the glass, the colleague smells like hay. Which has been lying on the meadow for a long time. In addition, a vinous undertone. Overall, it smells very nicely set and interwoven. In the background I also find aromatic pipe tobacco.
    • Taste
Soft, sweet start. Then a good seasoning.
More mineral and dry in the second sip. Even maritime echoes. Roasted aromas and seared apricots. Walnut and tart plums. Yeast dough and a bit of dark chocolate. This vinous note also in the taste.
    • Finish
Rather long. Pleasant bitterness and sour fruit aromas.

A classic sherry bomb (although it is probably a wine finish), you notice that when you first sniff. Rum raisins, sweetened dried plums, dark chocolate, espresso. As it should be for a beautiful Sherry Glengoyne, but to be honest it's a bit interchangeable. You can smell something like overripe banana in the background.
The Alk is very well integrated, you would be blind more than 16 years. It smells soft and creamy, and that's exactly how it is in the mouth. Nothing stings or burns, the aromas spread gently and gently. The same aromas remain, dominated by sherry and now with a little more sweetness but also spice, a bit tart oak. The finish is long with light pepper and very little sharpness on the edge of the tongue, and with much darker, slightly bitter chocolate, coffee, leather and brown sugar.

Delicious sherry drinking whisky, not very special compared to other sherry bombs, but deliciously tasty. I would like more of this than just a sample!
