This is just why I don't really rate Macallan. No complexity, almost nothing but overwhelming sherry. I could buy a bottle of Tesco's oloroso and get a better experience
    • Nose
sherry (surprise); maybe a hint of chocolate, but only faint. Just overwhelming sherry. Water does nothing for it
    • Taste
Sherry again. The chocolate's gone. Caramel (I bet it's colouring). Nothing much else
    • Finish
Just a hint of burnt orange maybe, struggling to make it through all that sherry

is a wonderful whisky due to its exclusive maturation in sherry casks
    more of it, much more!

    • Nose
Sherry. Butterscotch. Honeyish malt character. Depth of aromas even this young age.
    • Taste
Lots of sherry, without being  rich.  Plenty of malt. Sweetish and rounded.
    • Finish
Satisfying, malty, gingery, becoming dry, with a hint of smoke.

These are going up in price. Not sure why. Sure, it's a Macallan, and yes, these aren't available anymore in stores, but it wasn't that good back then and it's certainly not that good now. Drinkable though, but I would not pay USD $40 for a bottle.

N- Dusting power, dried fruits, on layer of spices, clove and anise.

P- Stiff and woody with alluring prunes, just light touch of sweetness with a lot of chewy oak.

F- Medium, dry, oak and minty.

A bit sharper on the nose, more spicyness in taste and some what flat on the tongue. Never the less a good one.
    • Nose
Matured, sherry notes, raisins, rich, vanilla, caramel, fudge, slightly pungy.
    • Taste
Sweet with lovely fruity layers, clear woodspices (nutmeg, cinnamon etc.) some black pepper aswell.
    • Finish
Soothing with some tutti frutti sherry notes.

Very sweet and delicious. The typical Macallan flavors. Only maybe a bit too young for the top.
    • Nose
Moist, rotten wood, forest walk after the summer rain and Grandpa's cellar.

Dark fruit, the typical Macallan crème brûlée flavor with lots of caramel, vanilla, sherry and plum.
Behind it, old wood, a little bit of oak and despite the low 40% a somehow tricky (disturbing?) Alcohol note or furniture polish.

Maybe a bit too young for a drop in the top?
    • Taste
Creamy and syrupy. Again forest walk after the rain. Dark fruit, caramel, honey and vanilla.

Swirling in dark chocolate, coffee and oak. Delicious.
    • Finish
Long with caramel, (milk) chocolate and sherry.

A good Macallan, very pleasant, a real little indulgence!
    • Nose
From the opening emerges a strong smell very sherry type, in any case it confirms the color. This immediately makes you think of a young Cognac. The whole is vinous with in the background light relants of wet wood or old wood. The nose does not burn, you can breathe frankly nostrils in the glass. The legs as they suggest augur syrupy whisky, sugar.
    • Taste
Contrary to what the nose says, the mouth is sparkling, the alcohol is this time very present but while being very well integrated. As expected, the guy is actually sugar. I discovered some prune and apricot tips.
    • Finish
      Good length.
