N: Bold, rich, moorish malt - fab! Theres no struggle with spirit vs wood, this ones just right. Here we have youthfulness with a maturity, always a desirable phenomenon.
T: There was a fruit citrus on the nose and this grows and grows on the palate, alongside pepper. Soon theres a little heat alongside an impressive build. Water helps with the heat without profile change,
F: Aniseed fresh with a woody malt sweetness. This is a gooden.
C: This wont create too many ripples in ‘whisky world’ but its a very pleasurable balanced malt with solid maturity. There are plenty of better, cheaper, younger malts but this is finer example of a Speyburn - 'a good fruit'.
