22-21,5-21,5-22, fruity, quite fatty, sharp in taste and due to the sharpness a little prickly at the finish. Very tasty 10ka.

Aroma: Varnish, malt, barely perceptible strawberries in a slight haze, sea water with each new breath, the aroma reveals itself more and more.
Taste: A lot of peat with sweetness, applesauce, salt.
Aftertaste: Peat, wet brewer's yeast, smoke.
Conclusion: Pleasant whisky. For his age, it is very impressive I want to get acquainted with the distillery more deeply. It does not push away from itself at all, although with the first sips it may seem harsh.

It was a bit solventy on the nose at first, so I added a teaspoon and a half to 50cl and left it sit for 15 minutes. On the nose, the solventy citrus notes fade and the malty spice notes become more apparent. The palate tumbles out quickly, so it takes a tad more focus to parse the flavors. With enough time the floral and fruit character of this one becomes quite powerful, too.
    • Nose
Salty citrus zest, a touch of white pepper, floral peat, malt, gingered spices, and butter with a hint of almond.
    • Taste
Floral honey and bitter vanilla, banana, salted caramel, floral peat, malt, mixed dried fruit.
    • Finish
Brown sugar and ginger, fades to bitter baking spices

    Colour: Gold

    Body: Medium/Full

Nose: Full, fruity and fresh. Heather smoke, juicy fruit, quite oily. Toasty, nutty, vanilla, toffee, salted caramel, baking spice, honey, malt, cereal, lemon, coffee.

Taste: Very thick and oily. Sweet with juicy fruit and some sherry. Heather, smoke and peat. Soft arrival, spice, very oily, nutty oak, malty, toffee, orange, red apple, soot and smoke into the finish.

Finish: Medium length. Silky with fruit and a little spice. Soot, some spicy oak, nutty and oily

Notes: Probably my favourite entry malt.

I like this stuff, nice whisky and quite powerfull for 46%
    • Nose
Fisherman's Friends, a bit peat, slightly menthol, cardboard
    • Taste
More and stonger peaty, I like this, gunpowder, a little pepper
    • Finish
Note of menthol which stays in the month pretty long

85/86. High quality for a 10YO. Seems softer than later versions, although it could be that the bottle has been open a bit longer.
    • Nose
Apricot, vanilla, caramel, peat, pepper and banana.
    • Taste
More peat. Apricot, mango, pepper, pineapple, orange, melon and vanilla.
    • Finish
      Peat, apricot, vanilla and pepper.

A whisky for every day. Fresh, fruity, light and yet a little lake, Tang, smoke.

  20. PunxsutawneyPhil scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

Much more like the 12yo CS batch #8 & batch #9 IMO. It misses the raw edges of the current 10yo. I can't find the 'crushed sea shells' smell and taste from the current 10yo in this one. I like this better. Some drops of water do wonders for the nose in particular.
    • Nose
Fresh, Springbank, green fruits, yellow fruits, oily, fatty, some orange, some honey sweetness
    • Taste
Thick, oily, typical springbank earthiness, honey, then yellow fruits, again orange, faintly some green fruits. Great if you like the typical Springbank flavours.
    • Finish
Gets little dry, little bitter, malty, sweet honey. Weakens fast, but lingers long

I bought mine for somewhat over 40 euros, so a higher rating for price than current avg of 83.67.

Complex. Water is its friend. And time! This presentation (10yo temperament, 46% abv, non-chill filterd, natural color) is demanding. Not for the beginner. But highly recommended otherwise.
    • Nose
No water: floral sweetness. Citrus. Heather. Heat. Savoury note (herbs? Nuts?). Complex.
With water: more sweetness. Savoury notes. No heat. Creamy. Still complex.
    • Taste
No water: smoky arrival. Spicy development towards sweet.
With water: sweet arrival. Spicy, creamy development towards citrus.
    • Finish
Long sweet finish if no water added.
With water: Long finish of sweet, citrus and hints of smoke.
