This Glenfarclas makes me really think of an Armagnac, because of its woody and fruity. The problem is that you smell too much alcohol, especially in the mouth, and the addition of water does not really improve it. Fortunately, alcohol can not completely crush the flavors.
    • Nose
Powerful and alcoholic. It's about not pushing your nose in the glass too much. It is marked by gingerbread and coffee, and of course sherry, with a salty side. Caramel notes appear with aeration.
    • Taste
The mouth, alcoholic, evokes an armagnac. There is prune and gingerbread, salt too. There is also a form of "woody freshness" (I have not found better there).
    • Finish
Softer than suggested by the mouth, and quite intense and long. It is woody and in the continuity of the mouth, with perhaps an increased bitterness.

A explanation from Glenfarclas , Ian McWilliam . The difference between The 105 and The Heritage 60°.The Heritage has produced only for a few select markets, mainly France. There is a difference in these products as follows: When we bottle the Heritage 60 we choose a different selection of Casks compared to the Glenfarclas 105. There are slightly less European Oak Spanish Sherry Casks chosen for the Heritage 60 compared to the Glenfarclas 105. By selecting less Sherry Casks allows us to offer the Heritage 60 at a very competitive price.
When we bottle these products we make a selection from 1st Fill European Oak Spanish Sherry Casks, Re-Fill European Oak Spanish Sherry Casks & Re-Fill American Oak Casks. By using these types of Cask it allows to create a balance of flavours and also bottle at Natural Colour. Both products are very nice expressions of Glenfarclas but my personal favourite would be the Glenfarclas 105. It has a strong nose with toffee and caramel flavours, full bodied with an explosion of flavour but surprisingly smooth with a nice sweet long lasting finish. The Heritage 60 has a more spicy flavour to it and losses some of the sweetness in the finish.
