No idea why this is rated so low - it's got beautiful depth for a bourbon. Absolutely recommended for the (current) price.

Vanilla, waxy, similar to the Woodford Reserve Kentucky Derby

    S 5
Pleasant nose, like vanilla marshmallow, getting more complex with spice over time.
Very easy sipper but too single-minded, it delivers a richer vanilla kick compared to normal bourbon at the expense of masking other flavours.

    N 25
Rich, creamy vanilla pod, what a vanilla bomb
    Very subtle spice hiding behind
    Gradually getting some apple

    P 23
    Again, vanilla
Honey, turning to fresh apple slowly
Charred wood underlying the entire palate
Rye spice arising, some malted barley after 5-10 mins

    F 23
    Mid-short finish
    Vanilla lingering
Oak spicy arising, very mild rye spice, more on the way when left for 5-10 mins
    Some cinnamon

Bulleit 10 year old bourbon, 45.6%.

Aroma is very spicy, clove, buttery background, buttermints vs mixed spice. Touch of menthol and marzipan. Even a bit papery. Mulched newspaper. Not a great nose for a bourbon to be honest, but not bad as such.

Taste is watery, spicy, quite flat and spicy, some ethanol with only light impressions of bourbon sweetness. Lingering char.

Doesn't taste mature at all - I'm amazed it's 10 years old. A 10 year old whisky matured in a cold climate and an ex-bourbon cask would usually have more flavour and maturity. You'd think a bourbon of that age would have a nice richness, but not this one! Pretty plain and not really that great. 'Flat' would be the main impression. Just ok. 3.05/73

Enjoyed this one. Refreshing, some fresh summer fruits, spices, but also again that sweetish Ben & Jerry's vanilla cone. Quite balanced--no odd flavours overpowering the rest.

  6. Sandman scored this whisky 73 points Connoisseur

Vanilla, corn, rye bread, cinnamon, lots of oak, peach, apple, orange peel. Tip: with a few drops of water, it becomes less sharp and more pleasant in the mouth and finish.

Too much rye and thin compared to Elijah Craig.
    • Nose
Oak, ginger, horseradish, vanilla, apricot, toast.
    • Taste
Thin. Unripe banana, green apple, caramel, vanilla, pepper and antique skin.
    • Finish
      Medium length, spicy, oak.

Tasty, strong, spicy bourbon, could also be a rye, a bit edgier than an Elijah Craig 12, fresher than a Buffalo Trace, spicier and more woody than the Bulleit NAS, for 30-35 € 'a fair story, if it gets even cheaper - > Bargain alarm.
    • Nose
when pouring a beautiful, fresh Duosan Rapid note (*), then vanilla, some dried apricot, strong browned toast, oak
      (*) DDR Universal Adhesive ;-)
    • Taste
very short again this solvent fresh, with fresh, green apple, then sweetness and strong rye spice - vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, pepper, wholegrain crispbread, old leather
    • Finish
      long, wood, leather, pepper, coffee
