  1. HammerHead scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Nice bottling, well balanced, maybe a little to hefty on the peppers and wood spices.
    • Nose
      87 87
Fruity: grapefruit, peach, pineapple but also a lot of peanut, a grassy note, quite some butter and dusty fresh woodspices (almost sawdust like).
    • Taste
      88 88
Quite oily with again the peach, citrus and nuttiness also some white pepper and nutmeg.
    • Finish
      87 87
Medium length, a citruscandy sweetness, the white pepper ending with lots of fresh and bitter woodspices.

    N: Bready/bakers yeasty-ness, apple & > firm pear > crumble.
T: A continued yeasty fruity bready profile with [light] bakers yeast-y mash-y Littlemill vibes that talk of the stages of fermentation.
F: A salivating spirulina-dryness that’s hard to describe. Also, light tinned fruits that border on waxy.

C: Very decent all the way through. We can pop this one in the very popular straight-ahead category of malts that share a similarly balanced light-fruity distillate-forward profile.

Very, very nice whisky. My first good experience with a Caperdonich turns out to be a very good one indeed. It shows that Caperdonich has a lot of potential. Who knows, this closed distillery might one day follow in the footsteps of Littlemill.
    • Nose
This is the definition of a fruit bomb. Orange, grapefruit, lemon zest, apple. A lovely sweetness as well, which is accompanied by freshly cut grass and cereal.
    • Taste
A great oily, creamy mouthfeel. More spices on the palate, mainly nutmeg and cinnamon, but also white pepper. More grapefruit, as well as some honey and apple. It also has a slight oakiness to it.
    • Finish
      Long, fruity and spicy.

In the nose as well as in the mouth you'll find all kinds of fruit, with spicy accents. Although the artwork is not necessarily to my taste, I like the originality.

I found this pleasant dram by its originality. Refreshing!
    • Nose
First fruity impression powerful. Alcohol and spices (pepper) sting my nose, but it's still nice enough. A lemony freshness, a touch of grapefruit. A touch of balsamic vinegar.
    • Taste
Very beefy at startup, quite explosively and on a basket of fruit. What am I saying, a basket, a cornucopia. In the middle of the mouth, the fruits quickly give way to a certain citric astringency that makes me salivate immediately. We would have liked it to last, but the mouth goes out a little fast. Aromas of green fruits (apples, pears, green plums ...) give a touch of youth at 20 years of age that does not really do. Fiery!
    • Finish
final a little behind, back on the citrus and sustained bitterness.

  20. Ivynor scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

A speyside still young, rather well done, but not very complex.
    • Nose
A nose on cereals, candy sugar, wood and green fruits. Alcohol is pretty well integrated.
    • Taste
It is only partially explosive, and with a certain youth. We find green apple, sugar, woody and herbaceous notes.
    • Finish
The finish is more grassy, always sweet. A lot of apples and cereals

What a fruit bomb! Extremely greedy, we hope that the dram is endless. Alcohol is perfectly controlled. I love this kind of profile.
    • Nose
A cup of fresh fruit with dominance of citrus (grapefruit). Very greedy, it opens the appetite! The citrus side then fades to give way to tropical fruits (pineapple). A real fruit salad.
    • Taste
In the continuity of the nose, an explosion of fruit in the mouth. It is a great treat, we want it does not end. Fluffy and sweet on the palate.
    • Finish
A return of pungent alcohol returns in the mouth, replacing the fruits.
Then the tangy grapefruit returns in strength.

Nice Caperdonich but just a little to sweet for me

  25. markjedi1 scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Sturdy fellow, this Caperdonich. Around 100 EUR.
    • Nose
Ah, now this is Caperdonich! Very luscious nose filled with sweetness.
Honey, eggnog, beeswax and juicy cherries. Something grainy too. Wonderful!
    • Taste
It is nicely mouth coating and creamy. Wonderfully sweet, as one might
expect from Caper. Spicy too. Nutmeg, black peppers and cinnamon. Marzipan.
This one does not need water. This is enjoyable.
    • Finish
The finish is fairly long and remains very sweet and spicy.
