I'm not sure what it is with pre-Signatory (before 2004) Edradour, but in general they are fainty, wacky (usually associated with baby wipes) and not very enjoyable. This one unfortunately is not an exception.
    • Nose
Starts with a musty smell reminding of silage-sweet and potatoes at the farm of my uncle. Followed by lots of lavender and baby wipes. Lots of cardboard as well. Hints of porridge (Weetabix). Driedflowers later on. Strange and not very enjoyable.
    • Taste
Thin mouth texture with associations of roasted barley, biscuits and bitter-chocolate. Followed by grapes and gooseberries. Apple-mint. Hints of cake-mix and sugared almonds. Violets and rose-water. A little honey.
    • Finish
Medium long with sweetness of cinnamon. Touch of caramel and ginger.

Re taste for a H2H, last tasted 6 years ago
    Different bottle to last time.
All I get on the nose is burnt rubber to be honest.
The palate is soapy somewhat which is a shame as there is some nice fruit notes underneath that and they would shine without the soap, too bad.
The soap increases on the finish, not good

    Bought a sample from Whiskyantique.
The Edradour has a very nice fruity honey-sweet nose. However, you don't taste much of it. It has a bad taste like old cardboard. This covers the beautiful aromas and stays in the foreground.
The whisky may also have a cork taste, which could explain this extremely bad note.
For me, however, that would not be whisky to pay today's prices for it, especially if such bad notes show up.

    Strange collage of different tones.
    • Nose
A little vanilla and honey, and at the same time, some sourdough dough, such a sour smell, not even lemon and yeast. A little sweetness at the end. Such malic acid, Apple essence.
    • Taste
The taste is sweet and sour, a little perfume chemical acid.
    • Finish
      The aftertaste is the same.

MOTR nothing more but nice to try an old Edradour , I do not think there are many about
    • Nose
Very prickly for 40%, some honey and caramel and something medicinal, a little menthol with liquorice?
    • Taste
Bitter oranges and cardboard at first but then some melon and honey with a hint of lemon balances it out.
    • Finish
      Short but fizzy
