Batch 6 - sour peaches, lovely toasted almonds, brine, wax, fire ember smoke, and a wonderful “dusty before a thunderstorm” sensation. Big sweet fruity start to the palate then sour fruits - sour pineapple lemon, green apple skins quite sharp! Gentle wood bitters then ash lemons smoke and green peppercorns

Thank you Sprinbank for the 12 CS. All of the batches I've tried so far are great whisky cinema. Preferable to any green, local barley etc. and even the 15 as far as I'm concerned.

Orange peel, orange peel, salt, light smoke and slightly sulphurous sherry notes. Simply a dreamlike combination.

  15. Calmar scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Invigorating and refreshing, with a vivid character, perfectly balanced, snappy, positive mole from Springbank.
    • Nose
      Fresh, invigorating, mineral, brackish, dried seaweed, citrus - lemon, orange, flower tones, apple-pear jam, wood, stain, boiled condensed milk, cream, confectionery notes - shortbread, sugar glaze;
    • Taste
Wave of pepper, lemon syrup, lemon, orange, tangerines, oak bitterness, everything beats with a fountain and sparks - fireworks of taste.
    • Finish
Orange peel with pepper, cream of whipped cream, young bark, a little wormwood, lemon in unsweetened tea, light oiliness.

    A nice dram.
    • Nose
Heat of high abv, behind the alcohol notes of butterscotch, fudge, cinnamon, dark dried fruits, licorice, smoky sherry,
    • Taste
      Full-bodied, mouth watering, oily,
    • Finish
      Long finish, nutty, oak,

  18. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

    Blind tasting.
    • Nose
Oily, honey, fruity, some wax, floral, eggnog, some nuts and with a 'dirty edge'
      .
    • Taste
Fruity - apple, malty - cereals, coconut, citrus and a trace of sulpher.
    • Finish
Acid like a hoppy IPA beer, ointment, pepper and a whiff of smoke.

A clear, big and plain present day Springbank. Very good: these can be recommended to everyone.
    • Nose
A bit antiseptic, salty bandage, rather dry, fried apple. Sweet marzipan, mild bitter almond. Pecan- and hazelnut. Gets sweeter after the austerity of the beginning. With water: significantly sweeter and clearly contemporary Springbankness: fruity toffee, a hint of liquorice. Very good.
    • Taste
Quite sharp and dryish neat. With water: softly rich and round, mild whey, a pleasant grainyness, salmiak, a little sweetish smoke, chocolate-fudge, marzipan. Fresh green apple, Granny Smith seeds, a delicious sweet oak.
    • Finish
Honey-malt, full-grain oats boiled with a small touch of salt.

  22. Jeep51 scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

A whisky easy to drink (despite the 53% all the same). It's very honest and without major flaws. The mouth lacks a little relief but the length compensates a little. The nose, versatile at will, is very pleasant.
    • Nose
No trace of alcohol comes out. It's nice, mastered and this nose is very changeable. A touch on a light peat, almost vegetal, another blow on the spray, leather and caramel, and one last time rather on Vichy pellets and grenadine. I really like these chameleon noses.
    • Taste
It's a little flat and lacking relief. Peat, frank, is present and expresses more intensely than nose. Slight bitterness and some sawdust. A lot of salt and pepper.
    • Finish
Very long. On the hot pepper, cold ashes and candied angelica.

  26. Bishlouk scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Its good ! A nice whisky, round, sweet, balanced, and easily drinkable. (note made in the context of a face-to-face meeting between batches 6, 7, 8, and 10)
    • Nose
Dry hay smoke, raisins, some exotic candied fruits. After aeration, lemony notes and a little bit of farm mud. A minty tip all over there, in the background?
    • Taste
Greasy texture, heady. Caramelized fruits dominate. Lemon zest, raisins. This mouth is round, soft, well balanced.
    • Finish
Long. Smoke slightly bitter and fruity dryness.

  27. RL_whisky scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

Very nice fruity, citrus, apples, sweats with hints of tropical fruit and malt en peat. Slightly drying and with a longer finish.

Tasted after the 15 and 18yo, I preferred this one a little more.
    • Nose
slightly phenolic at first impression, with a light maritime salty character. Caramel and a little butter. Hay and sweet notes come out with water.
    • Taste
sweet arrival, with spices developing later, some bitterness on the tip of the tongue.
    • Finish
      vanilla, wood, sweet fruity aftertaste.

  29. Toffie76 scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

    Relax! Round, fine and subtle.
    • Nose
A little solvent, smoke, bacon, sweet peat, mineral, sap, cold ash, wet leather, iodine, seaweed. Fruit, a lot of fruit. Nice balance. With a little opening (a little water and time) the nose becomes really beautiful for my taste. Walnuts, malt, crumble limit, vanilla pastry. Some spices too, but in the background. greedy
    • Taste
Pretty round, rather surprising for his age. Alcohol well integrated. The profile is rather typified sherry (but without exaggeration woody) and slightly peaty. All finesse. The length is satisfactory. Everything is quite smooth, round and finesse. Ginger, candied zest, marmalade. The texture is covering and oily. There is a little salt, too. The malt develops admirably well, with walnut, praline in the background.
    • Finish
Moderate bitterness. Peat and persistent smoke. Goes out peacefully.

  30. KayMeertens scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Compared to batch 5, this one 'misses' the whiff of sulphur which that one contains. The peat is also a bit more prominent in comparison to the sherry, surfacing in those chocolate notes.
    • Nose
Caramel, milk chocolate, sherry, strawberry, apricot, vanilla and gentle peat.
    • Taste
Milk chocolate, caramel, sherry, peat, dried apricot, toffee, mocha, blueberry and raspberry.
    • Finish
      Milk chocolate, caramel and blueberry.
