I enjoyed the quirks of this whisky more than its positive attributes. Surprisingly, I didn't find that it oxidized over time very well. This is quite unusual for a Springbank distillery whisky. Usually, they age over time like a sergeant.

I recommend finishing the bottle between the three month mark and the one year mark. That's when it was best for me. I owned two bottles and remember this fact off the top of my head. I didn't take notes.

The colour is amber. The nose starts with strong notes of creosote and peated smoke, and goes to salt, white fruits, dust, dry hay, apple jam, wet wood, perfume, grass and seaweeds notes. The palate has good combination of sweetness, peatness, dryness and saltness with notes of dried fruits, oysters and seaweeds. The finish is long, dry, spicy and peaty with grass, oysters and seaweeds notes. This Longrow is closed to be perfect! It has very good balance, nice peaty taste. I gave 91 points.

"A brisk, young, big hearted single malt. If you like peated whiskies, you're gonna love this."

Nice whisky, though not in the best value for money in the Springbank line!

    • Taste
Powerful. Sweet, creamy start. Caramel, oak, mustard, pepper and ginger, cough syrup. Smoke.

      Long, spicy, smoky, oaky.
