Interesting Royal Brackla with a peaty edge. A sample from Arno, the one and only Brackla Boy.
    • Nose
Fresh and clean nose. Citrus fruit of lemon and lime with a rough edge.Pineapple cubes. Esteric. A bit astringent. Grassy notes.
    • Taste
Kiwi fruit and peel zest. Also peat at the background. Quite sharp and alcoholic. Bergamot. New oak.
    • Finish
Long. Pepper and clove. Liquorice. A litte cinnamon at the end.

Overall review: scbp-6551, Bonfanti-Zenith's barrel-strong whisky from Italy. In addition to the Caol Ila 12yo, which was the best distillery among the card factories I have drunk in the same period, there are countless ancient early drinks Fogg's legendary wine. Speaking of this wine, there is a hint of the strength and fullness of the old-school bourbon barrel in the front part of the taste, but it turns sharply. With the bitter kickin, the thickness begins to collapse and the stimulus rises straight.

Asparagus oil, slightly green, caramel, cocoa, dried apple, grass, lemon essential oil. The feeling of sweet lignin is outstanding. Wake up from the cup, the honey is more prominent, but it is rough and irritating.

The sweetness is outstanding, honey, ginger sugar, barley sugar. It has a very light citrus peel aroma such as grapefruit peel and lemon peel. This type of aroma does not show much in the taste. The middle and late segments are continued with ginkgo, almond bitterness and dark chocolate, with pepper and chili throughout. The wine is strong, light oil, strong stimulation, ending with ginger flavor. p90b86

Nuts are bitter, slightly astringent, rich dark chocolate bitterness, mint, lignin, slightly astringent.

The scent is pretty simple. The taste is quite expected, but the finish is slightly higher than expected.

    • Nose
Acetone-woody, fruity-floral, some fresh lawn grass and pearl barley porridge, calcium carbide, sprat in tomato sauce.
      Outdoors: tropical fruits, banana, wax
    • Taste
Lollipops, creamy caramel, toffee, tropical fruits, oily perfume. A bouquet of bitter field herbs: lavender, sage, fireweed. Much more interesting than the aroma.
    • Finish
Complex, rounded. Sweet woody with an interesting bitter background.

    • Nose
Light smoke (traditionally peated), yellow fruits, complex and perfumy, banana, ripe apple, ripe pineapple.
    • Taste
Intense and juicy, lots of tropical fruits.
    • Finish
      Long, black tea, waxy.

A fruit mix of lime, melon, lime and lemon, with a dull earth character and notes of autumn leaves. Salty, spicy, tainted with leather and bland garden herbs. Overall, quite creamy, soft, pleasantly held with cream and butter flakes.
Thin character and somewhat one-dimensional, but with a lot of salty power. Mightier with spicy peffernoten, more grass, but also fruity with lime and bergamot.
Long-salty, dry, spicy with green fruit notes. Wood, bitter herbs, some butter and only a subtle fruity finish.

Nice nose that you can smell a little bitterness on, and the palate definitely needs water to subdue the prickly alcohol.
The score here is for when water is added, neat it is around 83-84p.

    Tasting note by Serge Valentin

Royal Brackla 16 yo (57%, OB, Zenith Import Italy, b. in the 70’s) Here’s one of these old Italian OB’s! It’s really astonishing to see that the Italians had so many different OB’s way before the rest of the world, even the UK, including Caol Ila, Clynelish, and this Brackla. The latter shows a pale straw colour, and at first nosing it’s powerful, even tingling, and surprisingly fresh. Great fruity notes (watermelon, white peach, rhubarb). Then it gets a little grassy (dill) and woody. But what a nice wood! I really like this sharp and very fresh nose. The mouth is more balanced, but still quite powerful. Beautiful fruit (pineapple, peach), then gets quite grassy, ala Banff. A lot of pepper and some fresh woody notes underline the whole. Again, very good, but not extremely complex on the palate. The nose is very interesting still, like some great Clynelishe’s. SV: 87 points, OH: 88 points.
