Whisky Reviews for Bunnahabhain Batch 1 TBWC

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.45 points

  1. Donwaldorf scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

An atypical profile that does not risk to mark the spirits ... It reminds me in its bad side a Talisker Skye is to say my disappointment ... too expensive for what it is!
    • Nose
A powerful nose, alcohol nibbles our noses (only 46% though ...). A slight veil of smoke suggests a field of flowers and citrus (lemon) with a hint of anise.
    • Taste
Powerful on the palate, poorly integrated alcohol. It is first dry and woody then appears its peppery and spicy side that will not please everyone.
    • Finish
A peppery finish ... acre on the leather.

  2. Calmar scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

Slightly smoked and smoky Bunna, Ayla, as it is, with its own marine shades and halftones, is very soft and delicate.
    • Nose
Open, wet, salt-sea with light peat and haze, freshly planed boards, ash, stone crumbs, lemon peel, weak floral and sweet confectionery notes, a little fresh greens, smoked cedar board, old leather goods, shoes, oiled cloth, industrial textiles - a tent, a fire hose, something like that.
    • Taste
Saturated, oily, oak, peat, ash, charcoal, lemon peel in sweet tea, smoked.
    • Finish
Light, warming, peat, coal, lemon rind, sourish grassy notes, sea kale, sweet candy-candy and creamy notes.

  3. Ruud6421 scored this whisky 80 points Specialist

I find this whisky to be much more peated than the official tasting notes suggest

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A little seaweed on the nose, melded with sweet caramel and heather honey. There is a faint hint of peat smoke coming through, with notes of fresh fruit.

Palate: Deep malt and heather, with overripe grape, calves leather and vanilla. The peat smoke notes develop late palate, with hints of cracked black pepper.

Finish: Peppery, slightly smoky finish. Very coastal now.

    Overall: A classic Bunnahabhain!

  5. addyhd did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

This whisky is rich and fruity with a hint of peat, and the comic book-style

label depicts the distillery and various goings-on, including a rally car

navigating the terrifying track to the distillery. There are also sunbathers on

the beach, and a handsome man tossing the caber.
