  1. FritzeKrautman scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

The nose was still quite pleasant and offered some space to linger. On the palate and on the finish there is almost a refusal to work. Powerless, unexciting, short.

alcohol, malt. Honey, dust, overripe apples, vanilla, peach, spices, notes of grain.
    • Taste
      78 78
Thin, quite powerless, slightly bitter, solvent, honey, notes of grain
    • Finish
      72 72
      Short, powerless finish, bitterness, tea

  3. Boletus did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Largely pleasantly drinkable and minimally complex whisky, but really nothing special.
    • Nose
Light bourbon vanilla note, sweet and only slightly spicy rye whiskey, tart, a cooling effect sets in over time, resin
    • Taste
Light, sweet, rum raisins, caramel, unspecified wood note, pepper
    • Finish
Relatively short, first a strong note of wood, then a bit of chocolate, vanilla remains with a slightly bitter note

    Crown Royal Blended Canadian Whisky.

At the Twa Dugs Ayr in March 2019. Short review while talking to people at the bar.

Aroma is creamy and honeyed like a liqueur - gives a 'sweet' impression.

Taste is again very sweet and honeyed - sugared almost like there's added sugar...and from memory this may be permitted in Canada...creamy spicy and adjuncty like Drambuie ... no sharpness at all, the sweetness certainly gets wearing 2.9/70

    get it for the sack
    • Nose
vanilla, caramel, honey, alcohol, domestic, rum-coconut knot, egg liqueur, gradually more wood, beeswax, gingerbread
    • Taste
very sweet, alcoholic, simple, vanilla, rum pralines, oak
    • Finish
      vanilla, dub

malt, caramel, vanilla, spices, mixed fruits a little sherry, a little toasted, the spices come back more energetic!
it's creamy, vanilla, pastry, short finish on the same rare scents
a good mix of vanilla and sweet for cocktails!

    • Nose
Malt, quite perfumed, turkish delight, little dusty.
With water - opens up with water, pineapple, sweeter malt, honey.
    • Taste
Some spice, dry white wine notes, a little brandy coming through.
      With water - some oak.
    • Finish
Medium, some bitteroak creeping in, wood spice.
With water - less bitter, slightly drying.

I found myself taking quite big mouthfuls of this to get any taste then I couldnt get past the cemical taste. Its not bad just disapointing. I was given this as a present and I think its going to sit in my cupboard for a long time, Its going to be one of them whiskies I give to guests that don't know much about whisky or whisky drinkers that want to try something different.

  14. pianoman scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Mild. Light sweetness, glue. Some malt and grasses.
    • Taste
Initially sweet honey with a light fruit note. Then fades to vodka with ice.

  15. wisekyofcourse scored this whisky 72 points Connoisseur

It smells of fir wood (maple, I do not know!), Caramel excess and bitterness. In the mouth, it's bland, alcoholic, Final, no!

The sweetness can be positively mentioned and credit. In the overall impression, however, very shallow and watery - 29.03.2016
    • Nose
Pleasantly sweet, caramel, vanilla, marzipan, pistachio, behind it pushes a pungent note to the front reminiscent of solvent or polish, no fruit flavors
    • Taste
At the beginning, the pleasant sweetness, caramel, but the body is very watery and flat, to the end uncomfortable alcoholic
    • Finish
      Short

  18. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 75 points Connoisseur

You can not drink, you can not. Too bad I find the alcohol flavors. Otherwise, that would be pretty nice.
    • Nose
Very sweet, vanilla, somehow smokey, a few spices. Not unpleasant.
    • Taste
a certain sweetness, but then a clear alcoholic note and a bit bitter oak
    • Finish
bitter-sweet and light alcohol taste stays behind.

  19. Gearmailteach scored this whisky 69 points Expert Senior

    I ...
    • Nose
Lots of caramel, fudge, vanilla. At the same time glue and solvent, behind it light fruitiness and honey.
    • Taste
Aqueous. Glue, some caramel, sweet maple syrup, vanilla and oak bitterness. Very flat.
    • Finish
Short and wet. Some caramel and bitterness.

Little attractive: Jim Murray can still distribute so much adulation, because I would rather buy a fine rum directly. And you do not get me wrong: I do not criticize here on principle, because it is a (cheaper) blend. One of the best whiskeys I've ever tasted was a blend that you would not find in the WB. If you are interested, what a drop it is, you can directly ask me (and so I can find out if such notes are ever read ...).
    • Nose
at the same time sweetness and bitterness, originating as from artificial sweetener (saccharine), light mint, nothing dazzling
    • Taste
      molasses diluted with water
    • Finish
Rum, vanilla, sweet and bitter at the same time (reason says: the latter are the oak barrels, but with pure reason alone one does not produce pleasure ...)

  22. BeatF scored this whisky 75 points Photo Moderator

It's not that I do not like sweet whisk (e) y, on the contrary: Besides an Islay (which of course also occasionally can present his wonderful sweetness), a fruity Speyside has absolutely equality with me. But here with this Canadian, the sweetness (reminiscent of saccharine!) Seems a bit too predominant. Not the slightest edge, which makes the Chose interesting for pure enjoyment without the addition of cola. The elegant blue bag does not help to refine it, and it does not help the shabby plastic wrap around the plastic closure.

  23. J.K.Ch scored this whisky 64 points Expert Senior

Maybe it isn't so bad as in my test notes but It is not for me
    • Nose
Wood, vanilla and taste of low quality rum. And some chemical sourness.
    • Taste
Vanilla with bad rum and a little bit of wood.
    • Finish
It is weakest aspect of this whisky. It is short and boring with bitterness and artificial sweetness.

  24. Rom did not rate this whisky Expert Junior

Nose caramel, alcohol and grain. Flat butterscotch and alcohol. No final. Shielded from E150. High proportion of grain and immature whiskey. Good for the coke.

  25. smaeksle did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    • Nose
      Vanilla, slightly alcoholic and sprightly.
    • Taste
      Soft, a little honey, spicy.
    • Finish
Somewhat woody and relatively long with a certain bitterness.

not bad, not good, just about ok, great flavors but lacks refinement, deep flavors but lacks complexity, good enough as a daily dram, love the pepper and warm finish though... especially during cold weather.

  28. HunterRomario scored this whisky 55 points Expert Senior

I originally wrote about 45 points, the second tasting went a bit better, so this is the worst whiskey experience for me this year and the points are finally 55/100. Mostly I try to be somewhat more diplomatic, I understand that everyone tastes something different, but what's the power, that's the power. This was the worst tasting experience of the year for me, made a nightmare, and it gave me a lot of excitement, tasting it for the second time, eventually I really decided on it, and so I rated it twice.
    • Nose
Windows from a wooden barrel? It has something of a lot of bad bourbon inside me, but in the second tasting, I found a light sherry of tint at a time, which scented the score below 50 points at least above this bar.
    • Taste
The finest and most conducive impression I ever had on the whisk (e) y, on the tongue first squeezes the alcohol, then comes a big vacuum, understand the vodovitost, perhaps woodiness mixed with water, very very flat, with woody bitter, poorly finished. This is really nausea greatness ...
