Whisky Reviews for Aichinger 13-year-old

The nose is extremely sweet and fruity. Chocolate and cocoa aromas dominate the nose, which is almost uptight, the wine barrel aroma and the cereal notes harmonize perfectly with each other. In contrast to the nose, the taste is a bit unimaginative and unspectacular, the watery and thin base substance contributes little to a duplication of the flavors. In principle, this wheat malt is not bad, with the intense cereal notes dominating the entire tasting. Only the creamy and sweet chocolate or cocoa flavors reconcile me a little.
    • Nose
Individual oily streaks stick to the glass wall, fruity roasting aromas swell up opulently from the Nosigglas. Burnt almonds and hazelnuts rise from the roasted aromas, dried berries and grapes are in the background. Cocoa powder falls in milk and mixes with creamy milk chocolate, cereal notes and a hint of sweet malt show up. Sweet berries and a delicious wine aroma mix with the strong chocolate note, sweet and creamy, the nose invites to the first sip.
    • Taste
Malted grain aromas dominate the first sip, immediately the cocoa powder from the nose is available again. Relatively thin and watery, the Malt with its only 41% alcohol content flows quickly over the tongue. The second sip is also initially thin and watery, tart whitened aromas are slightly bitter and surprisingly produce some sharpness and "strength" on the tongue.
    • Finish
Malty and characterized by tart notes of grain, the aftertaste begins relatively strong and powerful. The chocolate and malt aromas are found in the now voluminous aftertaste. Fruit aromas and a touch of vanilla follow, the cereal flavors become creamier and almost feel like I'm melting a cereal grain in my mouth.
