Fresh fruits and candied fruits but very indented on the nose. All accompanied by an unpleasant note that was also in Littlemill 12 years (say "vomit" would be too cow, I think, but I have no better to offer), a little wood dust. In the mouth, biting alcohol, even burning, too much! Too bad there is also plum and a lot of spices. The water gives a hint of caramel but can not clean the vomit on the fruits! (Sorry) Enthusiasm 2/5

Nose: Vanilla, caramel and wood... loads of it! It's like a crême brulée with a piece of fresh oak in it... simply delicious! After a while you also get a sweet orange touch.

Palate: Nutty, woody vanilla. Some more wood and then some more. It has quite a sting when you drink it neat, but with a splash of water it sweetens and you get even more flavours.

Finish: The wood mellows and the orange flavours get stronger into a crisp sweetness with a touch of vanilla that lingers very long.

Conclusion: This lowland malt packs loads of flavor, but the main theme is it's strong young vanilla woodiness. It's much more powerful than the 12yo or standard Auchentoshan, but it has none of the perfumed character of an Auchentoshan Heartwood. Nevertheless it has the very recognisable Auchentoshan character.

I am too new to give a note, but I found it disappointing, too disappointing compared to what I could taste until then. Too strong ... too much the taste of alcohol, it burns!

A peculiar profile. I once accidentally poured this one into a glass which contained a lot of water. The result didn't seem a lot like whisky anymore but was actually quite drinkable.
    • Nose
The nose is oily and reminds of Eastern-European fig (Slivovic) or pear (Kruskovac) liquor. Furthermore more typical Lowlands notes like malt, honey, grass and marzipan.
    • Taste
Malt, fig, grass, honey, currants, ginger, cantaloupe melon, marzipan, cereals, vanilla and banana. Again that impression of cheap liquor through it as well.
    • Finish
Malt, fig, vanilla, honey and a whiff of pepper.
