Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Caramel greets the nose initially followed by sweet spice and vanilla, then slowly a leathery character emerges with hints of old Cognac.

Palate: The palate is butterscotch sweet with a syrupy mouth-feel, behind this there are notes of cinnamon, nutmeg and ground ginger.

Finish: The finish is long and lingering with notes of toffee and grapes, then there is a hint of citrus zest and raisins which breathes new life into this extraordinary finish.

Overall: Whisky doesn't need to be old to be great, but that's not to say it can't be! This Invergordon is as complex as it is sweet and smooth. Furthermore it's great value for a whisky of this age, simply superb!

    • Nose
Intensively concentrated aromas. Dust, old library, concentrated malt sweetness, grape must, apple juice concentrate, Plaka varnish, chocolate truffle .... removes spices - only which? Maybe some ginger and turmeric. The flavors are really very intertwined here. In any case, this grain needs a lot of time in the glass.
    • Taste
There is a lack of power here! The aromas of the nose are hardly noticeable here. A big sip can be helpful. Malty sweetness and grape must are accompanied by a pleasant acidity.
    • Finish
Medium long finish with a light sweetness and very little bitterness.

A delightfully aged Grain whisky of incredible depth. Perhaps one of the best grain whiskies I've tasted.
    • Nose
A nose of considerable depth with notes of rum, brandy, bourbon, some spice, raisins, a little sulphur.
    • Taste
Sweet rum, brandy, some dark berries, and sherry.
    • Finish
A long finish with some wild berries, perhaps even a little damson.
