    Blenders Glass.
The first nose immediately says that this is something interesting and sherry. Very pleasant, thin, dry sherry (dried apricots, raisins and nuts), with hints of spices (cloves and allspice), noble wood and coriander are in the background.
On the palate, the sweetness of dried fruits is very vividly replaced by woody astringency, followed by hot and spicy spices.
The aftertaste is long-lasting, persistent, warm and warming, dry, astringent.
Ideal for a smoke - cleans the receptors at once! Interestingly, I did not find any signs of the old school (dust, attic, etc.), the malt looks modern, but very high quality.

Bruichladdich Valinch 1986-2004, 17 years, "Baraille", 54.4% alc. original bottling
    Extending: Sherry barrel (First Fill)
Region: Islay, Scotland Nose: Dirty and edgy sherry with alcohol, I leave the glass for a few minutes. After a short time the malt calms down, there is hardly anything left of the alcoholic edges. Aromatic sherry, caramel and raisins rise from the glass, dried fruits like apricots and dates, then very strong spices (cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and a hint of pepper). It reminds of the sweetness of syrup, to it mixes wooden aromas and resin. Palate: Creamy with very strong dried fruit and spicy oak, slightly bitter. In addition a freshness, as it comes from Menthol or mint. Behind them are nuts and malt, the spices of the nose appear weaker. Finish: Medium to long, initially creamy (with the dried fruit and syrup), the Bruichladdich quickly spicy and takes on a strong oak note, which still lingers little with the aroma of currants. Conclusion: really nice part, the strong sherry and oak aromas you have to like. 87/100 points (tasted 2015, approx. 200 €)
