Whisky Reviews for Glenrothes 1998
11 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 82.51 points
- So much sulfur in this one. Not even close to the quality of the 1995. A disappointment.
- Nose: Very spicy and creamy with oodles of sweet vanilla, gingernut biscuits, golden syrup, hints of citrus and malt.
Palate: A creamy, malt-driven palate with sweet winter spices, particularly cinnamon. Rhubarb crumble with hot custard and hints of black pepper.
Finish: Good length with more vanilla and a suggestion of nutmeg on the tail.
- These vintage releases of Glenrothes make for excellent every day Seyside dramming whiskies. Soft, malty and highly drinkable with a good level of fruit, cereal and nutty chocolate qualities.
- Not worse than 1994...
Citrus with rich vanilla dominate, lemons and limes mix with more exotic fruits. There is a cinnamon note too.
The citrus and fruit notes are still to the fore. There is a little distant smoke and some roasted banana.
Smooth, long, rich vanilla.
Yellow flowers (dandelions and buttercups), light honey.
Continues with notes of Sauternes wine (quite ripe apricot)
and lots of butterscotch, vanilla and cappuccino and ultimately just a bit smoky.
In the mouth it starts a bit shy but not for long.
Quite some honey and jam, ripe apples, toast, lemon marmalade then cinnamon and nutmeg from the wood
Medium finish with rich vanilla notes.
