    I do not have that
much experience with Glenlossie (only tried to younger versions), but I kinda
like this. Around 80 EUR seems a fair price for an honest whisky. Thank you for the sample, Jurgen. You may commence
your hunt for a cask from Auchentoshan. My mind is at ease, for you know how to select good
    casks.
    • Nose
      The nose is fresh and
lively with loads of malt and fresly cut grass, including some wild flowers.
Red apples, Doyenné pears and gooseberries take care of the fruity side. Some
vanilla and coconut, a twig of eucalyptus and some ginger. After a few moments,
I also get citrus. Light touch of oak.
    • Taste
      Despite the high ABV,
it gently rolls over the palate. Very peppery, it is true, but not burning.
Very fruity, again, with some more tropical taste. Pineapple, peach and loads
of oranges. Eucalyptus keeps it fresh. Towards the end, it turns slightly
      bitter as if from grapefruit.
    • Finish
      The finish is fairly
      long and spicy.

Neat I'd give it 85 points, but with a few drops of water the finish improves significantly, so it gets raised to 86 :-).
    • Nose
Almost like a white wine at first; yellow grapes, some grassy tones as well, but then more yellow fruit coming through, golden delicious apples with an exotic touch: mango, maybe even some pineapple. Some vanilla custard there as well. Faintly in the background lingers a hint of dustiness.
    • Taste
Very buttery, almost creamy mouthfeel - after this the alcohol punch comes through. Yet very fruity again: apples notably, yellow raisins, but then the sweetness slowly changes into citrus (lemon) and then more bitter grapefruit. White pepper, together with a hint of eucalyptus. With water some vanilla is added tot the creamy mouthfeel.
    • Finish
Peppery spiciness really coming forward now, later on mixed with some sweet vanilla tones. It seems that with water the finish becomes a lot fuitier.

Honest, very pure whisky, but for me it lacks a certain je ne sais quoi to push it to a higher level.
    • Nose
Fresh and clean, with especially lots of fruity notes. Think orchard fruits, like green apples and pears, although I also find a whiff of lemon rasp. Hints of freshly cut grass, but also straw, and some soft spices as well, like chili peppers. The plastic note I could've done without.
    • Taste
Naked stuff, pure spirit, not much wood. Quite spicy (those chilis again), but also some soft fruits, mainly of the citrus variety, as well as some pineapple. The mouthfeel is quite creamy too.
    • Finish
      Peppery. Medium in length.

It's a special whisky: the nose is quite pungent at this abv% which gives a bit fruitiness. The tastes is varnish-y fruit-y and the finish more fruity then in the pallet. Strange whisky, but I quite like it! Need to try this distillery more

Glenlossie 20 yo 1992/2012 (57%, The Whisky Mercenary) Colour: straw. Nose: these whiffs of new plastic pouch again, then apples and green plums. Some pears, touches of cloves, hints of caraway and fennel. With water: I had never thought I’d find plastic and soap okay in malt whisky. Mouth (neat): barley water, a touch of varnish, Spanish apple liqueur, a drop of crème de menthe. With water: more of all that, plus a wee varnishy side. Finish: medium, with a little lemon. Comments: not the easiest session I’ve ever done, it seems. Unless we start to intellectualise things a bit – but I guess we’d better not. SGP: 451- 79 points.

Very fruity, especially the exotic fruit, but also spicy. Hints of vanille and mint.

Normally I don't add a few drops of water in whisky. But witht his one, the whisky gets a lot better and less spicy.

Nose: Flowery, farmy, malty. A hint of mint? Citrus. Not much fruit, but it is there; apple, pear and some passion fruit.

    Body: Medium/heavy weight. Slightly creamy.

Taste: Fruits are predominant here. Exotic, tropical species mixed together with very juicy Mediterranean ones. Oranges, some white grape, pineapple and coconut, passion fruits. Very peppery altough this gets pushed towards the back with some water. A touch of mint.

    Finish: Long, juicy and spicy.

Verdict: Great bottling, personally I very much like this profile and it's a great swimmer.

A fresh and clean nose with citrus, green apples, grass, malt, vanilla and washing-up liquid. Too clean for me. A slight dustiness is the only thing that betrays its age.

The taste is much fruitier and more oily than I expected, but also has a bitter touch. Peach, pineapple, pepper, grapefruit and vanilla. It reminds me a lot of an Imperial I tasted recently. Easy enough to drink without water, but with a few drops the fruitiness comes out even a bit more.

In the finish the pepper really comes up to outclass the fruit.
