much experience with Glenlossie (only tried to younger versions), but I kinda
like this. Around 80 EUR seems a fair price for an honest whisky. Thank you for the sample, Jurgen. You may commence
your hunt for a cask from Auchentoshan. My mind is at ease, for you know how to select good
The nose is fresh and
lively with loads of malt and fresly cut grass, including some wild flowers.
Red apples, Doyenné pears and gooseberries take care of the fruity side. Some
vanilla and coconut, a twig of eucalyptus and some ginger. After a few moments,
I also get citrus. Light touch of oak.
Despite the high ABV,
it gently rolls over the palate. Very peppery, it is true, but not burning.
Very fruity, again, with some more tropical taste. Pineapple, peach and loads
of oranges. Eucalyptus keeps it fresh. Towards the end, it turns slightly
bitter as if from grapefruit.
The finish is fairly
long and spicy.
