- What a Laphroaig.
- Laphroaig Tasting Notes:
Colour: Rich, deep gold
Nose: Powerfull, smoke and earthy aromas, seaweed
Body: Full bodied
Taste: Massive peat smoke, huge flavour, complex, seashore salt, fading sweetness at the finish
Finish: Long and savoury
- Laphroaig 10 years CS Green Stripe, 57.3% alc. original bottling
Region: Islay Scotland
Nose: In the first impression very short alcoholic, but the nose quickly gets used to it. Here I miss something the fruit, it is smoky and very maritime: steep coast, kelp, Stockfisch and flotsam. Add a light vanilla and a touch of lemon. Palate: Violent and intense, strongly phenolic, the sea flavors come back. After that come herbal notes, including some mint. In addition, a beautiful sweetness unfolds again reminiscent of vanilla.
Finish: Infinite and phenolic, some ashes and here again the stiff sea. Also with some pepper.
Conclusion: really nice strong, great part!
88/100 points (tasted 2015)

- Color: light gold
Nose: Fruity ripe plums, peat, slightly medicated, dry smoke, salt, oily.
Taste: Fair-tempered onset, creamy exotic fruit sweets, peat and smoke with excellent integrated medicinal note, tart, but pleasant woody aromas, hot pepper, heavy malt; outstanding.
Finish: Eternally long, wonderful maritime notes integrated in a great fruit sweets, seagrass, salt and smoke, malty peat, very medicinal; that's Laphroaig!
Rating: Once you have drunk this malt, you have to have more of it; no doubt! 95 points
Note: This class had the legendary Green Stripe but only at the beginning times (Batch 1 for Duty Free). This batch still contained old whiskys from the 70s. The same bottling around the year 2000 shows a distinctly bitter taste, whereby the great fruitiness was lost, so it comes to a devaluation of at least 3 points.
- First batch of this CS green stripe for Duty Free is magnificent, other batches aren`t as good is this.
