    • Nose
      Blind sample:

      Colour:
      Shiny gold

      Nose:
Starts with blood orange and smoke. Again, the smoke is not intrusive. I find the waxy here too. Albeit less pronounced. Overripe lemon is added. And now the tropical fruits are coming again. A whole basket full. First of all passion fruit again. Some kiwi and lychee. With a little time in the glass, it also goes back in the cooked direction. Bites of marzipan and white chocolate. Moist wood and a cooling mint note. The smoke is still not intrusive. Plays and covers well.
If you give your colleague even more time, he looks a bit more musty. Has something of an old card game.
    • Taste
Spicy start. Here too, a pleasant chilli note. The smoke is more casual in the background. With the second sip, the set, tropical fruit notes get through better. It has an older taste. Although a metallic note plays along. In addition, slightly salty. There is also a mineral taste. Slightly nutty and has something of breakfast cereal.
    • Finish
Here too, rather long. Fine smoke. Creamy sweetness. Has some honey. In addition pleasant spice. This tropical, remains in the finish.

Nice bourbon maturng old Tomintoul without exaggerated oak effects.
    • Nose
Surprisingly fruity: Strawberry, grape, orange and peach. Matured oak and big malt. Honey and citruses.
    • Taste
Bigger oak than the nose with more spices. Fruits and honey. Dark chocolate. Salt, cheese and herbals.
    • Finish
      Long, oaky, spicy, bittersweet.

For his 44 years very "young" malt with a lot of vivacity and very little old barrel notes, which one probably would not have found without the knowledge of the age. Both in the nose and in the mouth not very complex, but very clear, powerful aromas. The finish is stunning.
    • Nose
An old bourbon barrel as from the textbook. Vanilla, honey and very light hints of ripe citrus fruits. The oak notes are so discreet that I would have given him ten years less age. Not very complex, but very strong, clear notes.
    • Taste
The impression of the nose continues here. Slow start, full power after about five seconds. Sweet honey and vanilla notes, fruity notes and still only subtly tart oak notes.
    • Finish
For a Bourbon barrel sheer eternal finish with sparkling clean notes. Soft oak, honey and malty sweetness and a touch of nuttiness, whose memory remains forever in the mouth.

Nose: Fruity oranges, peaches and lemons, with vanilla and a beautiful old malt note. Mineral and salty underlays. Also notes of rhubarb compote with a fine honey note.
Taste: Bitter, tart and spicy, yet soft, notes of overripe oranges and slightly musty aromas. Add herbs, dry salty oak and sweet honey.
Finish: Medium long, sweet, dry, underfed herbs, becoming bitter.
    84 points (nose: 90 / taste: 79 / finish: 84)

Very very nice nose followed by an at least pleasant palate and remarkably long finish. A good to very good representative of his guild and certainly a '67 Tomintoul who does not need to hide in the midst of his now numerous classmates.
    • Nose
Wonderful grape-nut aroma, over time, the fruit prevails over the nut. Orange and a little citrus are added to the grape. In addition, a touch of mild smoke and impressions of autumn leaves.
    • Taste
At first a hint of dark chocolate detached from rather tart and spicy notes, from which the fruity aromas of the nose shine through from time to time. The well 48 turns donate enough power for the quite voluminoesen representatives.
    • Finish
Extremely long and at the same time slightly sweet as well as spicy.

On the nose: fine fruit notes - peach, mirabelle, fresh, biscuit, a little vanilla. Very elegant
On the palate: first soft, then tangy, strong - intense fruity-kräutrig, spicy.
Conclusion: For his age, there is very little and only later barrel influence. Ends slightly minty with some maltseuts.

It takes a long time to breathe, but then it comes to its peak.
