An easy, but dispensable, sherry, the 1995 Van Wees a little more marked sherry are better ratio q / p.
    • Nose
moderately marked by sherry, citrus fruits, dried fruits, a lot of caramel. Quite simple.
    • Taste
a little more about chocolate, a little caramel, sugar, orange, honey, dried fruits, spices. Sweet and tangy, easy to drink. But quite simple and a little too young.
    • Finish
      good length.

Dried fig, caramel and hazelnut. Quite dirty as well. More fudgy when adding water.
    • Finish
      86 86
Caramel, cocoa, fig, raisin and hazelnut.

  8. Calmar scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

A quality dry sherry mole, very deep and rich in shades, excellent balance, good pitches, suitable for both thoughtful tasting and relaxed relishing.
    • Nose
Warm, open, sweet, processed wood, dried fruits, candied fruits, prunes, raisins, dried grapes, dry earth, dried mushrooms, light molds, new leather goods - very diverse and deep.
    • Taste
Dried fruits, raisins, pu-er, dried mushrooms on a background of spicy oak and burnt biscuits, pepper wave, again burnt rusks, lemon zest, dark beer, quite dry, quite a bit of creamy sweetness, candied tangerines, kumquats.
    • Finish
Continuation of taste, kvasnoe must, bitterness of dark beer, a little pu-er tea, toffee, burnt sugar, orange peel, kumquat.

I was quite surprised by this one, as I think the sherry is nicely supporting the distillery’s spirit, bringing out a coastal side of Glenrothes.

  11. Rom did not rate this whisky Expert Junior

Caramel nose and green wood. Sweet attack, powerful development, some fruits (plums). A little pepper manifests itself in a bitter and tannic finish.

  13. Ivynor scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

A sherry marked by the cask, a bit bitter and at a very exaggerated price. As Tomy says, Van Wees Glenrothes sherry are better q / p.
    • Nose
A little sherry (caramel, dried fruit), wood, vanilla. The slightly alcoholic rendering and the marked presence of the wood give the impression of something younger.
    • Taste
More bitter, drier. We are on a sweet sherry, but with a dry texture, on vanilla, wood, spices, a little cooked fruit (plum queens, plum) and caramel. The whole seems unbalanced.
    • Finish
Too much wood is astringent, tannic.

  14. Lucas Falchero scored this whisky 82 points Member Senior

    • Nose
Un peu alcooleux, le nez exprime les agrumes, les fruits secs, le bois sec. Plutôt sucré voire caramel.
    • Taste
Du sucre, du fruit rouge, du fruit sec et du caramel. Trop tanique à mon goût.
    • Finish
Encore le caramel. Astringence en toute fin. Moyen longue.
