A very good Littlemill, but only after adding a little water and giving it some decent time. Initially it's mainly a lot of sweet grain and vanilla notes.
    • Nose
      90 90
An extremely grainy nose, breakfast cereal, bread dough, four grain biscuits, taai-taai (kind of a sticky gingerbread), grassy butter, vanilla, subtle citrus notes, tangerine, pomelo, a mild (green) tea note, mint and slightly dusty wood.
    • Taste
      90 90
Creamy, sweet butter and grain notes. Grainy biscuits, a little more fruit than in the nose, sweet orange, some peach, pear and even hints of pineapple, vanilla, white pepper, clove, ginger, rosemary and mint at the back.
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium length: clear vanilla, still grainy, some more bitter citrus and finally quite dry on the wood spices.

Wow, so that's a real hammer part. Intense, but at the same time something elegant, brilliant and fresh, with a lot of variety - both in the nose and in the mouth and finish. My experiences with Littlemill are limited (which is changed after this one!). I like it!!!!!
    • Nose
very intensive, grapefruit, lemon, lime, iron tablets, wax, linseed oil, geranium leaves, daisies, freshly cut beech hedge, lilac, malt, after a while melon and more honey and vanilla, mint and liquorice, very changeable nose, which after another While coconut and fat marzipan are behind ... wow!
    • Taste
sparkling, intense and brilliant, at the same time oily, grapefruit, lemon, heavily melon, honey, salty almonds, coriander seeds, a lot of mint, some licorice, clove pepper, after-eight, malt, again the linseed oil, very complex, exciting and varied with water: the honey sweetness is getting more intense ... jammy!
    • Finish
Laaaaang and sweet and fruity, especially the cilantro rises from the roof of the nose, the mint remains felt eternal, the fruity notes fade slowly, while once more dark chocolate and a handful of nuts appear out of nowhere ... and am At the end the smell of fresh lilac remains in the nose ...

Wow! This Littlemill is written with the L of Legendary. Thanks, Manny, what a wonderful liquid!
    • Nose
Oh, yes! Wonderfully complex nose on all kinds of citrus (mostly grapefruit and blood oranges) and tropical fruits like melon, figs and passion fruit. Waxy, reminiscent of the better Clynelish. Grass and lamp oil in the background. Something milky, that I cannot quite pinpoint. Have you ever cut a cactus and smelled that juice? Reminds me of that. Tiger balm. This is stunning.
    • Taste
On the palate it is equally complex. Again very waxy. The citrus clearly takes the lead (pink grapefruit!), followed closely by green apples, coconut and mango juice. Very zesty and spicy on coriander and liquorice.
    • Finish
The finish is long and zesty, but it does leave the mouth completely dry.

Nose: Bit nutty, mushroom, earth, hay and cotton candy.

Taste: Really fruity: apples and grapefruit with a creamy edge.

    Finish: long and pleasant.

Very very nice whisky. Littlemill distillery, please join my favorites. :)
    • Nose
Very complex, waxy, sweet and sour fruits: grapefruit, blood oranges, melons, figs, cut grass and cactus
    • Taste
A lot of layers here: a strong sour start: grapefruit and green apple, then a grain layer with some glue, finally a creamy cocoa flavor comes. Quite incredible!
    • Finish
      Clear, long, dry and fruity

Pretty decent but just a little unrewarding for me.
    • Nose
Candle wax, grapefruit, custard cream biscuits
    • Taste
Slightly bitter at first on sour apples mixed with grapefruit. Gets creamier and zestier as you go on and the custard cream on the nose is evident on the palate.
    • Finish
      Medium length

    From Whiskyfun:

Littlemill 20 yo 1992/2012 (54.8%, Archives, bourbon hogshead, cask #44, 339 bottles)  Colour: straw. Nose: it’s well in the style of some other 1992s I could try, that is to say rather less ‘emphatically fruity’ than earlier vintages, with also more grassy and mineral/oily touches that remind us of earlier Littlemills. So we’re somewhere between passion fruits/grapefruits and linseed oil/paraffin. A little clay and broken branches as well, violets (flowers). With water: would you think ink and grapefruit juice would mix well? Here’s the answer: yes. Mouth (neat): a different profile this time, the expected fruits are much louder. Lemons and beeswax, pink grapefruits, lemon balm and touches of coriander. I must say this is pretty perfect. Great, full body. With water: swims like a champ. A feeling of zesty fullness, if I may say so. Mango and grapefruit juice. Finish: long, very zesty, ultra-clean and, it seems, with something of, wait, Clynelish? Comments: one of these Riesling-malts that I enjoy so much. SGP:641 - 90 points.

Very nicely balanced, layered whisky. A subtle tyrant.
    • Nose
Sweet, subtle. Vanilla, pisang goreng. Later more fruits like pear and melon. A bit malty as well. Extremely nice.
    • Taste
Bitter sweet. A lot of layers. Too much for my skills to say something sensable about it. Something to single out: almonds.
    • Finish
Long, very long. Melons and pears.

This is a very very good Littlemill.  Not a bad word to say about this one, really.  Very nice selection, Menno and CJ!

  29. Bishlouk scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

What a slap! A revelation. Incredible complexity, a
delight of every moment, no loss of taste or smell over time.
    Alcohol is superbly integrated.
    • Nose
It's grassy, springy; it reminds me of a field of wheat still green. Resin. Smells that cross and meet again, a delight.
    • Taste
Candied lemon, sweet cereals, citrus fruits, honey, wax. It's smooth on
      language. Extremely complex and pleasant.
    • Finish
Endless. Vinous, tingling full of mouth.

    Color: sunlight
Nose: Lots of lemon, malt and green notes, slightly salty. The fruit flavors of the apricot and melon come to the fore, a little gum, very straightforward with waxy honey notes.
Taste: Salty grapefruit, paired with a delicate honey sauce; tender, bitter aromas of almonds and nuts appear later.
Finish: Medium and dry, with plenty of salt and grapefruit and a fresh Minznote (Mundspuelung).
    89 points (nose: 89 / taste: 89 / finish: 88)

The nose is perfect. The taste is compared to the nose al little weak. With a lot of water it's getting much better.
    • Nose
almond paste, vanilla, cardamom, rum & raisins, pear

      +H20 (15% to 20%): floral, grassy

A very complex nose. Reminds me on a Suntory Hibiki 17yo.
    • Taste
very alcoholic, waxy, medical & bitter

      +H20 (15% to 20%): banana, malt, orange
    • Finish
      long & dry.

Very malty nose, with faint fruity notes (citrus and summer berries) only released by a few drops of water. Sweet vanilla and honey only became apparent after several minutes in the glass, but made the nose much more complex and attractive. The malty profile continues on the palate, leading to a long dry finish ( drifting towards bitterness at the very end).

hm, found it quite strange in the beginning. Liked it a lot better with (and opens up with ) water. Vanilla, cream, porridge, grainy, lemon, waxy, very fruity, quite the stuff I like!!!

The best littlemill? No idea, I really like the Silver Seal ones and the sherried Thosop as well. But a very good one indeed! SGP 562 in my book.

  35. WantsWhisky scored this whisky 94 points Connoisseur

The best Littlemill I ever had. A perfect nose, a superb taste and multiple layers. A long aftertaste. Strongly recomended if you like Littlemill. A very good bottle at a very good price.
