  5. St. Pauli scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Very sweet, not exactly my cup of tea but well made.
    • Nose
Much sherry, on chocolate and sultanas, and to a much lesser extent the barley and a faint hint of vanilla and sugar
    • Taste
Quite sirupy and chewy, clearly PX matured, on sultanas and milk chocolate. Some dates too.
    • Finish
Slightly tannic, the sherry becomes less dominant, making some room for maltiness and vanilla

  10. KayMeertens scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Compared head-to-head to cask 2034, this one has more red fruit whereas that one has a clearer oak influence.
    • Nose
Berry jam, caramel fudge, vanilla, candy cane, raisin, menthol, pepper, liquorice and cinnamon.
    • Taste
Prune, cherry, raisin, toffee, milk chocolate, hazelnut, liquorice, pepper and clove. With water something like eucalyptus which is actually not beneficial to the taste, so better keep it neat.
    • Finish
Prune, chocolate, cherry, raisin, toffee, hazelnut, raspberry, pepper and mint.

  11. Magnus Hillman scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

This is a great dram in my opinion. Never had a pure PX-cask before. Too bad I only bought one bottle but I hope the 2002 oloroso cask, bottled for whisky base will deliver as good as this one.

    (tasting interval 88-91)
    • Nose
Dried dark fruits and spices typical for sherried whiskies, muscavado sugar, some coconut and dark chocolate. Sulfur? Maybe? I'm not particularly bothered.
    • Taste
dades, raisins, figs, dark roasted coffey beans, not as sweet as expected from the nose but really balanced. Some organic solvent appears but not in a bad way.
    • Finish
It's long and spicy with cinnamon, chili and dark fruit. Almost chocolate-chili combination. Excellent!

One dram note - Extraordinary Glendronach. One of the best sherried whiskies I've drunk so far
    • Nose
Lots of sherry notes with dates and cocoa as the most prominent
    • Taste
Massive taste with liquorice, sweetness, raisins, more dates and sherry
    • Finish
Incredibly long. Like getting hit by a train filled with awesomeness

  13. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

N: raisins, nuts - pistachio, pepper and brown spiced biscuit
T: lots of raisins, honey, orange and drying
F: again lots of raisins, liquorice, syrup - apple syrup

I liked the cast strenght batch 1 more than this one. More complexity for the same price.
    Still a good one.

  15. Falnor scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Nose was brilliant, taste was a tad weaker but a great PX sherry. Not a big raisin one, but a good PX. Highly recommended for such a price!!
    • Nose
Strong and deep rich sherry. Older than you would expect from a 10 year old. Glendronach sure know their casks.

Sweet sherry, some red fruit and a lot of cacao, coffee and mocha. Hazelnut chocolate, walnut dripped in chocolate, coffee beans with cacao. Creamy choc-espresso.
    • Taste
More red fruits here on the palate than on the nose. Even some oranges. Nuts and chocolate. Also plums. I was a little afraid for a lot of raisins, but definitely not the case. Little bit of alcohol and thinner after such a great start.
    • Finish
      Long, fruity and medium dry.

  16. WhiskyandFood scored this whisky 88 points Member Senior

    • Nose
Dried fruits, hazelnut and walnut. Creamy sweetness makes way for dry rich earthy tones of coffee and cocoa.
    • Taste
Rich, red fruits, figs and toasted nuts especially peanut and walnut giving way to the rich dried plum and date's.
    • Finish
      Very nice and long finish
