  1. StyrianSpirit scored this whisky 92 points Expert Senior

I was able to drink the Old Pulteney 21y on many evenings, alone and in a nice round of whisky, compared to other malts. He was always a bit different, changing his face and body over the course of an evening. Very complex and always to be rediscovered.
    • Nose
THAT is a whisky - what's in the nose! First a round, beautiful, powerful Sherryton. But also glue, sweet paste, sea beach is to smell at later Tastings.
    • Taste
Goes soft and full on the tongue, wonderfully oily, sea salt and even some smoke spreads wide in the mouth. Then actually light oak and licorice.
    • Finish
Great intense, medium length, but not sharp finish; Suddenly something sherry comes to the fore again. Something of everything and that remains for a long while in the mouth and throat. Succeeded!

  4. Koloman scored this whisky 94 points Expert Senior

Jim Murray chose this whisky as "World Whisky of the Year" for good reason in 2012 - although I do not give much credit to Murray's ratings since he raised a completely contourless Japanese in 2014.

Heard about this from the Jim Murray rating. I finally found a place that could get it and now after hearing about it from everyone, I may sell it and look for the 17 year instead. Whisky Advocate only rated it 82 points
