Grapefruit cotton New Year's event mikan-yaki (but smoke is modest) Lemon Baum Fish boiled in oil Transparent lavender and iodine Roasted rock salt Almost the smell of the promise in this distillery? The fruit scent is on the front and the climate origin is on the back.
The fruit is as clear as the fragrance, but it is still ripe and powerful, rather than ripe calm! Honey pickled ginger & lemon peel Banana liqueur Thick soup Roasted fried barley sprouts Slowly oozing out of liquid is vanilla sugar Lime salt The more fragrant it feels, the more it compresses the existing citrus and the squeezed scent oozes out
Yellow fruit citrus Mint arugula herb system Ashy smoke The body becomes hot afterglow

Very balanced laphroaig, not too medicinal but fruity and sweet, excellent

Beautifully matured Laphroaig. Powerful, balanced and sweet.
    • Nose
Soft smoke in the nose, not quite as phenolic, medicinal as in younger Laphroaigs. In addition, slightly maritime and bright fruits.
    • Taste
Powerful start, of course, smoke, in addition to something maritime. Then gentler and rounder. Little vanilla, sweet.
    • Finish
In the finish wonderfully slow smoke, as well as long-lasting green, fresh oak. Getting a little drier. Even after a few minutes still there. The smoke is decreasing more and more, but the influence of the barrel remains clear. Keeps up after half an hour; Gorgeous!

    1987 (53.4%, OB for
    LMDW France,
    6 casks, 2006)
    This new one doesn’t come
    cheap (185 Euros) Colour: white
wine (slightly darker than the 1993).
Nose: very clean at first nosing,
as smoky and mineral as the 1993
but soon to get hugely medicinal,
with lots of tincture of iodine,
    mercurochrome, pine resin…
Also nice hints of wildflowers and
fresh almonds but the whole is very
    extreme. Casualty ward? Mouth: powerful,
    peaty, herbal (Jägermeister,
    chlorophyll) and again very extreme
and medicinal. Lots of lemon skin
as well, cinchona, green tea, apple
    skin. Kind of a ‘thickness’.
    Notes of green gooseberries, not
    too ripe blackcurrants and kiwis…
    Also something like orange drops.
    But the keyword is ‘medicinal’!
    Finish: rather long, fruity, chalky
    and always medicinal (of course)
with also a little pepper. In short,
quite a beast, maybe one of the
    most medicinal Laphroaigs I had
in the recent years. Very, very
good but tastes younger than 19
    yo I think. 89 points.
