This whisky is a good starter for a whisky evening and one that is ideal for a leisurely sideline while watching TV. Not too complex, but it's a classic case of easy drinking.
    • Nose
sweet, fruity, tropical fruits like pineapple and bananas, light; then there are more floral and grassy notes, dried meadow flowers, but the sweetness of the fruit dominates the first impression.
    • Taste
The alcohol is clearly reserved, the whisky is dangerously drinkable. Sweet, the vanilla comes through more with the fruit; reminds me of custard with tropical fruits, papaya; honey comes through too.
    • Finish
short to medium; less intense; The fruit aromas and vanilla still dominate; later the bitterness of the oak comes to the fore more clearly and also slightly smoother notes

Had it blind. Went for speyside. Did not expect Clynelish, that¨s for sure. Not balanced imo. Delicato on the nose. Very bitter with oakiness in the taste / finish

Is there such a thing as banana tang?

  5. m884 scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Lovely and solid but nothing too extradorary
    • Nose
Dry - flowery, fruity, a tad honey, some hints of smoke and grass
    • Taste
Thick oiliness, dry, grassy, green bell peppers
    • Finish
Wax, dry, medium long, some lingering grass sweetness, slightly harsh but not in a bad sense

  7. St. Pauli scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

After all clean, fliendly, pleasant and balanced!
    • Nose
Slightly mineral, oily (wax), grassy (malt, mint), fruity, woody (saw dust), (banana, lemon and apple), only a tad salty.
    • Taste
Creamy and waxy, with soft malt, grass, mint and fruit
    • Finish
Quite some pepper (a little cloying) and warming spices next to still lots of fruit (candied grapefruit) and a little brine. Nice but a little too dry to my taste

  8. Luccasfar scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

This is a funny one. Initially its dominated by a creamy woodyness to an extent that allmost hide the Clynelish character. With time that disappears leaving bags of grapefruit, bitter wax, green peppercorns and even some eathyness on the palate. The nose even becomes a little bit smoky. With time this ends up being a very good Clynelish.

  9. SilentStill scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

A well-accessible, simple malt, but I could not really inspire
    • Nose
Fruity-grassy start with green apple and also green and rich grass. Mild and quite balanced with a slight tendency to acidity. After a while, the grassy aromas are more and more prevalent.
    • Taste
Pretty similar nose with enough strength. Although quite clear, repetitive aromas, but unfortunately nothing new or rather one-dimensional.
    • Finish
Short with medium-long, slightly bitter-sweet finish.

  10. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

N: saw dust, syrup, fruity, oily, some peat smoke and dry floral tones
T: some custard, medium smoke, herbs and honey
F: full and long, floral, caramel, some citrus fruits and blue cheese
in the finish some sherry cask influence, the rest is soft for a Clynelish
compared with Clynelish 14 46% DB
