- Note by Serge Valentin from whiskyfun.com:
Tomatin 36 yo 1976/2012 (50.7%, Maltbarn, sherry butt) Colour: light amber. Nose: not quite a fruit bomb, since there's also quite some polished oak and fudgy tones that make it more, well, polished than straight fruit bombs. Now, many fruits there are, with mangos again, marmalade, then orange blossom water, then fresh croissants and a lovely grassiness that's not unlike what we had found in the 1988. Also a little menthol, I think. With water: more farmy notes, humus, wet grass... Mouth: the oak talks first, with notes of pinewood and something slightly metallic that I hadn't expected. Also a lot of walnuts, most fresh, which gives it a bittersweet side. Not a classic 1976. With water: careful with water. Reacts perfectly well to a few drops, but gets more metallic when drowned. Finish: quite long, with the sherry coming out more, together with some cinnamon. Comments: not the 'usual' 1976 Tomatin, but it's really a playful one. Quality's high anyway.SGP:641 - 89 points.
- Tomatin 36 yo 1976 (50,7%, Maltbarn 2012, sherry butt, 102 btl.)
Nose: it seems a slightly less fruity Tomatin, with rather more herbal notes (sage, mint, dill, chamomile). Lots of honey. Maybe more oaky than some previous casks as well. Gingery. In the background: plum jam, banana and red berries. Soft sherry. Mouth: beautifully fruity. It could be mistaken for a good BenRiach 1976, with its mango, melon and truckloads of pink grapefruit. Pleasant soft oak and herbal notes towards the end. Finish: herbs and fruits trade places, bringing along a slight resinous dryness of the wood.
Very good Tomatin with a surprisingly fresh fruitiness on the palate. Maybe not the most expressive / fruity nose though. Around € 250, sold out.

Nose: Direct attack with slightly fruity aromas of orange and lime, unsweetened fruit tea, harmonious round and not too sweet, emerging leather and a slight smell of stable.
Taste: Fair onset with orange, honey and nut aromas, sweet and salty with wood and black pepper (sweet wood-honey combination). To the finish becoming more and more spicy.
Finish: mid-length; Oak wood, spicy and with a bitter-bitter remainders on tea basis.
