Whisky Reviews for Town Branch Bourbon

- I get a nice nose on this one with the caramel and oak notes that you expect on a bourbon, with Alltech's signature, but the bottle has been open and is now 2/3s full. I get honeydew melon on the taste with a nice balance finish with strawberry notes as it lingered. Not as spicey as some bourbons, but definitely above average.
- This is a very clean and well balanced bourbon. It's not the most complex, but it's one of the most pleasant to drink. The mouth-feel is surprisingly rich for something at 40%. Definitely a great introduction to bourbon or a wonderful sipping bourbon. Some interesting facts the brand ambassador shared: 1) The cuts are all made without computers by the master-distiller. 2) They use the heaviest charring for their barrels. 3) They have 2 open cypress wood fermenter that ferment the wort for about 65 hours. 4)The owner is a biological engineer who studied yeast fermentation. 5) The master distiller is Irish and worked at breweries and distilleries back in Ireland. 6) Mash bill is 72% corn, 13% rye, and 15% malted barely.
Sweet cream and dark red fruits (esp. cherry), caramel and oranges w/zest, sweet floral and a touch of mustard greens and dill
Corn oil with a soft brown-sugar spirit, sweet oak-tannins, grains (corn brings the sweet and rye brings the starchy red berries)
caramel with a hint of malt and milk chocolate, fading to orange blossom water
