Blueberries, caramel, marshmallows, vanilla, mocha, pepper and ash.
Compared to cask 15135, this one is much more gentle with way less sherry impact and much more room for the Highland Park signature. Compared to cask 15124, this one has more red fruit and a longer finish but far less creaminess.
Starts with a fragrance of sherry and healthy fresh cut grass. Then lies on a soft bed of smoke, hiding peat underneath, making the whole experience more mineral than fruity. Ends with some gingerbread impressions.
The gingerbread takes more power, reveals traits of dark chocolate and the sweet, strong sherry comes in force. Tones of brown leather, smoke by the chimney. The chocolate ends up more milky and less passionate as the palate eventually rests on a more creamy note.
A long, delicious finish. The milky chocolate seems to stay forever and the heather comes back one last time in a more automnal fashion than on the nose. Warms you up a whole night.
Definitely a great surprise. Was recommended to me at Julhès in Paris for 77 eur. I don't regret this one single second and rejoice on the many good evenings I'll spend with it!
